Encouraged by the events, thousand from both countries gathered at the wall between the kingdoms and celebrated together as the dragons melted the eyesore with their fiery breath. A kingdom finally reunited and the discovery of long-lost families brought more reason to offer thanks to the gods. Filled with power, the dragons took flight and reentered the Gates of the Heavens which were, thanks to the power of faith, no longer a prison for them.

Daynel held her breath as Draiken walked beneath the tree in which she hid. At first she thought it to be more frightening to become the queen of the southern kingdom, then changed her mind. Facing her dragon husband proved to produce more dread within her heart.

She waited until he passed out of sight before she began to climb down. She swung her head sharply to the right as she found herself being held captive by a living branch. More branches snatched her and suspended her just above the ground. Draiken approached her, shaking his head.

“Priestess or not, you must still pay the penalty for disobedience. Did you think that hiding out in a sacred grove would protect you? You can be a slow learner at times, my love,” he said. “Release her,” he ordered the branched sentry.

Daynel plopped to the ground and slowly stood to face him as she brushed herself off. “I had hoped that I would receive some leniency given my situation. Obviously not,” she growled, kicking the base of the tree and yipping when the branch struck her in return, right across the behind.

“Hey!”

“I had nothing to do with that. It seems that your subjects are learning some of your tricks, little priestess. Now, come to me. It is time.”

“I don’t want to,” Daynel pouted, dragging her feet.

Draiken sat upon the altar and patted his lap. With an exasperated sigh, Daynel approached him, looking at him with pleading eyes.

“I beg you to reconsider, husband.”

“I shall not. However, after we are done here,” he hoisted her across his broad lap and skimmed her breeches from her backside, exposing her pale half-moons, “my interest might very well be sparked to providing my mother with another grandchild. What say you? Should we give her a dragon or a priestess?”

“A baby? Oh, Draiken! Please, spank away,” Daynel said happily. “
Owwwww
! On second thought…Ow, stop, it huuuuuurts.”
