Mark didn’t speak up right away. He wanted to make sure that whatever route he took, it had to be a good one; although there was nothing good about fucking his wife’s best friend.
“You got two seconds,” Olivia said out of patience and the longer he took, the less understanding she was becoming.
“Babe, Felisha called me over there yesterday to put up Lil Romeo’s ceiling fan and his new big boy bed.”
“I heard about that, but she never said that she was calling you to put up nothing.” Olivia snapped. “Any other time she calls me to ask you for her. Plus, you said yesterday. Why were you there this morning?”
“Olivia,” Mark said to stop her before she kept going on.
She calmed down as much as she could just to hear him out. “Carry on,” she said with a clear attitude.
“Kevin called me over to his house, because he needed a boost this morning.” He said, speaking of his first cousin. “And since I wasn’t able to make it over to Felisha’s house yesterday and was right around the corner this morning; I stopped by to fix the bed and put up the ceiling fan.”
Olivia’s eyes rolled in the top of her head. “And, how did that lead to fucking her I wonder?” she curiously asked, still feeling anxious as hell as she rubbed her runny eyes.
“I don’t know,” Mark said with a disappointing shake of the head. “I stopped by, catching Felisha off guard. I know I should’ve called first, but normally Lil Romeo is up early as hell; at least when he’s here, he is. I didn’t know that he wasn’t there until after Felisha had opened the door. I told her that I’d come back later, but she said since I was already there that I may as well get it over with. She wanted him to be excited to see his new bed up when he returned home from her mom’s house. ”
Olivia impatiently sighed like she didn’t give a damn about none of that. “I’m still waiting for the good stuff.” She said with a serious roll of the eyes.
“Well, she’d insisted on helping me so I could finish quicker by handing me the tools and reading off the instructions. I can’t lie babe. I don’t know what happened, but before I knew it, the only thing I saw was her standing in front of me with that lil shit on and my hands were touching on her body.”
Olivia frowned with a mean row of wrinkles on her forehead. “Your hands were where at on her body?”
“I don’t know. I don’t even know what made me do it,” he said, ignoring her question and now trying to become the victim. “I don’t know what I’m going through.” He started crying, causing Olivia to kind of feel bad for him. “I’ve felt neglected from you for a few months now. No matter what I do, it feels like it’s not enough. You don’t even kiss me like you mean it.” Olivia sat in awe, because she felt the same way about him. He didn’t kiss her like he meant it.
“Mark, that didn’t give you the right to sleep with my best friend, though. We’d just spoken on the phone with each other. It’s some shit you just don’t do.”
“I know,” he sorrowfully said with his head held down in the palm of his hands. “I made a mistake. Don’t punish me for that. I love you.”
Olivia sat quietly weeping as she continued to wipe her tears. Had she neglected her husband so much while fucking Zay that she pushed him in the arms of another woman?
“Let’s leave the country.” Mark suggested. “Don’t make any hasty decisions, yet. I fucked up and I know it. Let’s just go away for a week or two and rethink this thing. I’m not trying to brush this under the rug. I just believe that we have a marriage worth saving. Everybody ain’t perfect like you babe, and I am so sorry. I know you’d never do this to me. Please forgive me.”
It was quiet for a mere three minutes.
The bedroom door opened as Olivia stood there puffy and teary eyed. “Nobody’s perfect,” she responded, thinking of her past transgressions. She wiped her nose with the Kleenex in her hand and sniffed in.
Mark entered the room and immediately wrapped his arms around her. “I’m so sorry, baby. I don’t know what got into me. Let’s figure this out. Let’s go to counseling. Let’s just leave right now.” He pleaded, noticing her packed luggage. He kissed her on the forehead. “Will you give me that chance?”
Olivia disappointedly shook her head, still wiping her tears. Mark reached over to try and dry her face, but she moved back, out of his way.
“Come on, baby.” He begged.
“Okay,” Olivia said, not wanting her parent’s or anyone else in their business at the moment. “We’ll leave out of the country for a couple of weeks. I need some time to think this through, too and I know with mom knowing about this, I’ll never be able to rest from hearing her in my ear.”
Mark planted a big kiss on her cheek. “Thanks for not giving up on me. I promise that we’ll work through this. Just don’t turn your back on me. I love you.” He assured her, and then quickly entered the bathroom. “I’ma take a quick shower before we leave, babe.” He called out.
Olivia could hear the shower water turn on. “Please do,” she commented, wiping the kiss off of her jaw with a frown on her face. She hated knowing that Mark was washing Felisha’s nasty pussy off of him. The thought of it almost made her stomach turn, but what kind of wife would she be to not want to work things out with her husband after she’d been unfaithful too. Dealing with Felisha was a different story, one that she’d deal with when she returned, but she had to find some common ground with her man first.
She walked over to the bed to try to zip up her luggage as Mark’s phone started going off. It was a text message and Olivia ran around the bed for the phone like she was going to tackle it. She immediately picked up and read the message.
I really did enjoy myself. You just got this touch that does something to me. I wish we could’ve shared that moment forever. I’ll back off and let you mend your marriage. Felisha
She’s going to back off and let him mend his marriage???
Olivia quickly thought. Instantly she became pissed. “This bitch really got a thang for my husband. She’s just gonna let him mend his marriage, huh?” She sped out of the bed room and found herself in the utility room looking for something to cause havoc. Devilishly, she smiled upon seeing the lighter fluid sitting on the shelf above the laundry detergent.
__________
She stepped back inside their bedroom and grabbed her luggage, carrying the duffle bag across her shoulder and pulling the luggage on wheels behind her. Once she’d gotten them inside her car, she headed back inside the house to hear that Mark was still in the shower.
Perfect
, she thought then headed straight for his closet with the lighter fluid in one hand and a box of matches in the other.
Mark had a closet full of expensive clothes like Louis Vuitton, Versace, Tom Ford, and several pair of Giuseppe shoes. He had Cartier watches and two Diamond Rolex watches that she’d gotten him. His closet was just as nice as hers and its contents probably cost more than hers with all of his expensive taste in jewelry.
She immediately began to squirt the lighter fluid on his clothes then his shoes. She aimed at his jewelry box and squirted even harder, and then on his phone, making sure it was soaked. “You won’t talk or text on that bitch no more.” She said, feeling powerful. “You wanna fuck my best friend, nigga.” She angrily mumbled. “You wanna play me like I’m somebody to be toyed with.” She frowned, feeling disgusted. “Then this bitch got the nerve to say that she had a good time. Oh really, bitch?” she said, fuming just as much as the smell from the lighter fluid was starting to stink up the room.
Olivia struck the match. “Fuck you and her,” she said then threw the lit match on Mark’s clothes. The fire lit up instantly inside the closet. She then quietly made her exit, leaving Mark in the shower.
__________
Mark rinsed his body off, standing in the steam filled tub. He looked around with a frown on his face as he sniffed in the air. “Baby,” he called out. There was no answer. “I swear I smell smoke,” he said getting out of the shower, feeling for his towel. “Damn, I never grabbed one. Baby, can you pass me a towel?” he called out with no response back. With the smoke starting to burn his eyes, he then exited the bathroom.
“WHAT THE FUCK?!” He screamed out as the blazing fire had crept out of his closet and in their bedroom. He looked toward the room door thinking about making a run for it. “Hell naw,” he quickly said as the fire grew rapidly. “This bitch gone crazy!” he yelled, running back inside the bathroom and pushing the window up. He could hear the fire alarm going off really loud in his ears as he tried desperately to push the screen out. Finally, he was able to jump out of the window. His heart was beating fast and he was scared as hell as he could hear the crispy sounds of the fire inside the house, destroying his home.
He looked over to his neighbors coming out of their house. His adrenaline was pumping so fast that he didn’t know what to do.
“Mommy, that house is on fire and the man is naked.” A child cried out, and that’s when Mark realized that he had no clothes on. He quickly made a run for his car, holding his eight inch, dangling goods. Luckily, it wasn’t parked in the garage and the doors were unlocked with a spare key in the glove compartment. He jumped inside of it and spotted a pair of black gym shorts on the backseat. Quickly he slid them on. He didn’t have a chance to look for his phone, but the Fire trucks could be heard entering the neighborhood. Once they were in view down the street, he could see an ambulance behind the trucks as they quickly pulled up in front of the house. Mark shook his head, watching everything they owned go up in flames as the whole house burned down to the ground.
“Excuse me, sir?” The Fire Chief asked as he tapped on Mark’s window. Mark was stunned that this was even taking place. He looked at the Fire Chief and got out of the car. His body was still damp from just jumping out of the shower and his heart was still pumping rapidly in his chest. “Can you tell me what happened?”
Mark knew that Olivia had set the place on fire, but what made her so mad? He thought they were good, but apparently not since her car was nowhere to be seen. He looked at the Fire Chief, still knowing that this was his fault.
“I believe the candles that I had lit in my bedroom caused the fire while I was in the shower.” He lied. “My wife told me about being so careless with those things.” He wiped the sweat from his forehead with a sick look on his face. “I had to jump out of my bathroom window.”
“I see,” the Fire Chief said, noticing that he was wet. Mark wanted to smile just to be courteous, but he didn’t have it in him.
“Lord, please let that work. I don’t need to be spending no time in jail because Olivia has gone crazy.” He silently prayed.
Chapter 2
Olivia headed to the airport. Her eyes were soaked as she drove in silence trying to figure out exactly where she was going. “Get it together, O’.” She coached herself, wiping her tears with the back of her hand. She was hurt and felt betrayed by the two people that she loved more than anything.
“How could Felisha do me like that?” She questioned as she headed toward The Augusta Regional Airport. There wasn’t ever a time she thought Felisha even looked at Mark like that. Mark had definitely never given any kind of hint that he was even remotely attracted to Felisha. She was beyond confused. It had her hurt to the core as she sadly shook her head while driving down Bobby Jones Expressway. She looked over in the side view mirror and switched lanes. The rain had started to come out of nowhere as she turned on the windshield wipers. Minutes later, her phone began to ring giving her wandering mind two brief seconds of free thought. She looked down at the Caller ID and it read,
Bestie
.
Her stomach turned at just knowing that the word bestie meant absolutely nothing to her anymore. “I wish I might answer that phone for her dirty ass,” she mumbled. She had no words for Felisha at the moment unless going to jail was involved. The only thing saving her from that ass whooping was the fact that she didn’t want her parents involved in her business. She wasn’t known to be a fighter nor did she ever think she’d flip out like that, but Mark and Felisha had crossed treacherous waters. To her, that was the lowest thing a bitch could ever do. She’d confided in Felisha on many occasions about her boring sex life. Why would she even want to try him? Mark knew she had loose pussy, because the bitch couldn’t keep a man. So, why would he even want to try her? She sighed, not knowing what the fuck to think. Her phone rang again. This time out of frustration, she quickly answered it, just ready to curse the bitch out.
“Bitch, you got some nerve calling my phone after you just fucked my husband!”
Zoe cleared her throat, taking the phone from her ear as she checked the Caller ID to make sure that she’d dialed the right number. “Uh, Sis…” she said with unsure thoughts now taking over her initial reason for calling. “You alright? Who just fucked your husband?”
Olivia’s eyes widened, now feeling stupid for not looking at the Caller ID first.
“Sis,” Zoe called out. “Talk to me,” she said. She could clearly hear the tension and pain in Olivia’s voice from just saying that little bit and whoever had just fucked Mark, had surely just fucked up.
Olivia burst out in tears. She was driving like Miss Daisy was in the backseat, because she didn’t want to hurt herself nor anyone else, and then finally she just pulled over to the side of the highway.
“Sis, please. Talk to me,” Zoe pleaded. “Where are you?” She asked, hearing the now pouring rain beating rapidly on Olivia’s car.
“I-I-,” she stuttered, trying to get it out. “I’m on Bo-bby Jones.” She cried.
“I hope you’re not driving. You need to pull over if you are.” Zoe demanded.
“I’ve pu-lled over.” She said, trying to wipe the never-ending tears.
“What the hell happened?” Zoe asked, feeling bad as hell for her sister.
Olivia sniffed, trying to calm her nerves so she could talk. “Ma-rk slept with Feli—sha.”
Zoe frowned. She wasn’t sure if she had heard her right. “Mark did what now? With who?” she paused with unsure thoughts of what she’d just heard. “You didn’t say Felisha did you?”
