Chapter Twenty-Three

Nikki

Tomorrow is the day.

The day when I lose everything.

I have spent the past few weeks doing everything I could to be able to have memories to hold onto. The girls and I have been going to lunch everyday. I’ve fallen head over heels for Twisted, even though I’m scared to say the words to him.

Torch knows something is wrong with me. Well, he will finally be validated when it all goes down tomorrow. He will know that he was right.

Today I asked Twisted if we could have a day to ourselves. I used the excuse that the club has been demanding lately, but I just selfishly want as much of him as I can get today.

He had to run a few errands but he is on his way home now.

Hearing the roar of the bike I walk outside just in time to see him pull up. I can’t help but smile as I walk toward him.

“Hey, firecracker, I got something for ya.”

He hands me a leather jacket.

When I hold it up, the back has the Deathstalkers logo and it says Property of Twisted. Before, the thought of being claimed made me physically sick. Being with the girls and around Twisted has completely changed my views. I used to see being claimed as a sentence condemning you to a miserable life, it isn’t. It’s a show of love, emotion, and devotion. Tears prick my eyes,
I will not cry
.

“I know you aren’t a huge fan of the club, but it’s tradition. It’s so everyone knows you’re mine.”

I look up at him. “I love it.”

I slip it on before leaning up and kissing him.

“Shit, I thought you were gonna put up more of a fight.”

I shake my head. I won’t be fighting with him today. I’ll be saying goodbye.

I climb on the back of his bike and slip my hands around his waist. This is a feeling I never want to forget. The two of us on his bike, moving as one. The wind making me feel like I’m flying. Holding onto him as if he were the only thing keeping me grounded.

We drive until he pulls into a parking lot. I look around to see a movie theater. When he pulls into a parking spot, I climb off and look at him confused.

“I know we didn’t start off the way normal people do. I asked Lucy what people do on dates, seeing as I’ve never taken a chick out on one. She suggested dinner and a movie.” I smile at him. “Glad you’re happy, ’cause I thought it sounded boring as shit. I prefer the way that we had our first date.” He winks at me before climbing off the bike.

We walk into the theater and he asks for two tickets to a movie called Silent Whispers. Apparently it’s a scary movie. I take a deep breath. He looks at me as if asking if something is wrong.

“Nope, everything is just great. Except that aside from my usual badass self, I’m a little bitch when it comes to stuff like this.” I cover my face in embarrassment.

“Oh Yeah? This shit might actually be fun.” He grabs my waist pulling me against him as we walk through the doors. I follow him all the way to the very back row. We are the only ones in it and the closest people to us are still a few rows up.

“Far enough away?” I laugh.

“Oh just you wait and see.”

The previews start to play and I lean my head on his shoulder enjoying being able to be close to him. Once the movie starts my demeanor changes. I tuck my feet under me, and instead of lying my head on his chest, I’m holding onto him for dear life.

Every time the damn ghost pops up I think it shaves a year off my life.

I feel his hand slowly rubbing my thigh and I know that he is trying to comfort me. At least I think he is until his hand creeps under the waistband of my leggings.

“What are—”

“Shhhh, the movie is on.” His tongue licks his lips slowly. “However, I’m told screaming is okay in horror movies.”

Damn.

He had this planned all along. I should have known a movie with Twisted would never just be a movie.

His finger traces my panty line, causing me to squirm. I look around at the people in the rows in front of us.

“They can't see what I’m doing, babe.” His tongue darts out tracing a line down my neck.

His fingers dip under my panties, slowly running up and down me before he sinks two of them into me. I groan.

“Do you like this? Knowing I can get you off in a room full of people. I like it.” His teeth bite down on my ear. Jesus. “I like knowing I can have you anywhere I want. That you were already wet for me when I dipped my finger into your beautiful pussy.”

I lean my mouth against his neck moaning into it as he strokes me hard and fast.

“That quick, huh? I can already feel you squeezing my fingers. You want to come don’t you?” I nod against his skin. “Good, babe, ’cause the perfect part is coming up.”

I’m confused.

Before I can ask, his thumb pressed down on my clit, rubbing circles as he strokes me. I let out a yelp, but at the same time so does half the theater.

I look over at him. “Told you it was perfect timing.” He winks at me.

I can barely focus the rest of the time the movie is on. When we leave I stand at his bike not climbing on.

“What if I wouldn’t have screamed at the right time?”

“Then everyone would have known how well I take care of you. Either way I was good.” He smiles looking so relaxed and content. I try to commit the look on his face to memory.

“Take me home.”

It’s a simple request but it’s filled with so much more.

I want to spend the rest of the night with him.

Taking every second I can and making use of it.

I’m going to miss you.

Chapter Twenty-Four

Twisted

I pace the clubhouse as I dial her number again. It goes straight to voicemail, again.

I yell as I hurl my phone at the wall watching it shatter. Nikki was gone when I woke up this morning and her phone has been off.

“What’s up, brother?” I look up to see Whip walking toward me.

“I can’t find Nikki. It’s like she fucking disappeared into thin air.” My hand scrubs my face as I try to think of where the hell she could be.

“You guys get into it again?”

“No. Everything was fine yesterday.” Pres and Torch walk in and I know that they are ready to leave for the meeting. My head isn’t right for this shit right now, but I have to be there. “Listen, I gotta go handle this. Will you try to help track her down? See if Tracie and Lucy will help you.”

“No problem.” He nods at me.

I walk over to the boys, trying to pretend as if my mind is on this meeting.

“You good?” Shooter is looking at me and I know he can tell something is off.

“Yeah, fine. Let’s go do this shit.” We head out to our bikes, on our way to the Savage Knights’ clubhouse. Hopefully we can iron out all the problems with the fighting ring quick so I can find Nikki. I don’t know why but something in my gut is telling me that shit is really wrong.

Their clubhouse is about an hour from ours but the ride feels like it takes six. The entire time all that is running through my mind is different things that could have happened to her. No one knows about that cop. While they are still posting flyers and shit, they have no leads. As much as they wished they did, the cops have nothing connecting us to his disappearance either.

Pulling into the lot we line our bikes up. “Listen, you two. Preacher can be a damn handful, and from what I hear he’s been on a rampage lately. Watch your goddamn mouths while we are in there. We deal with business and then get the fuck out.”

Torch and I nod at Pres. I haven’t been VP for that long, and this is really the first time that I have had to deal with other clubs as an officer. Walking in we are greeted by a couple of the brothers.

“Shooter. He said you’d be coming by.” One of them nods at us. “Follow me.”

We walk toward the back of the clubhouse. They have at least twice the club whores we do hanging around just waiting for a brother to want some action. The place is about the size of ours but it’s dirty as all hell. We walk into the office and Preach is sitting down behind his desk. His VP, Ammo, standing beside him. Both of their backs are to us and they are talking to someone who judging by the looks of things must be on the floor. A whimper sounds and my blood runs cold. I look over at Shooter and he shakes his head at me. We respect our women at the club, but not everyone shares our sentiments. It's one of the reasons why I chose Deathstalkers; if there is one thing I can't stand, it's assholes who take shit out on women. Another sound comes from behind them and I clear my throat not willing to just stand here anymore.

Preacher turns his head toward us. “Gentleman, welcome.” He motions toward the chairs in front of the desk. “We need to continue this later.” He looks over at Ammo who nods at him. He reaches down roughly grabbing the girl’s arm and pulling her to her feet.

My entire body goes rigid.

No.

I must be dreaming, imagining shit.

I might have convinced myself of that until she looked over at us.

Her face hidden by her wild hair.

Nikki.

I move to stand up but Torch’s hand presses down on my knee. He must be fucking kidding me. I look over at him seeing the warning in his eyes. There is no way in hell I will just sit here. The door to the office closes and my mind races with what to do.

Why the hell is she here?

What were they doing to her?

A million questions run through my mind.

“Preacher, where’s your bathroom? I gotta hit the head.” My leg shakes with anticipation. I need to find her.

“Down the hall, third door on the right.” He nods out toward the main room.

“I’ll be back.” I stand fighting every instinct I have not to run out of the goddamn room. When I close the door I look around to see if they are out here, no luck. As I walk toward the hallway, the bastard is coming out of a room.

I give him a nod as we pass each other then make my way toward the bathroom. Once the hall is empty I move to the door I saw him come out of. I quickly walk in closing the door as quietly as I can. In the corner of the room is a mattress, no sheets, no blankets, stained and dirty from God knows what. In the middle of that mattress is Nikki. She is completely naked. Her knees are pulled close to her chest and her head is buried between them. I can see her body shaking from what I assume are tears.

A part of me still thinks I must be dreaming. I’ll get to her and it won’t be Nikki, it can’t be. Walking toward the mattress she doesn’t look up at the sound of my footsteps. I kneel down hoping that she’ll look over at me, but she doesn’t. “Nikki?” At the sound of my voice her head snaps up.

Her right eye has a large purple bruise under it and her lip is cut. Anger flows through me at the fact that someone put their hands on her. I’m going to kill the fucker that did. I can see bruises forming on her arms and legs too.

“What the hell are you doing here?” It’s all I can ask. I reach for her hand to pull her to me when I hear the jingle of a chain. She lifts up the hand that is farthest from me revealing a metal cuff attached to a chain, which is fastened to the wall. Holy shit. I shake my head not understanding any of this. “You need to start talkin’ now, babe. I don’t have a lot of time before someone comes looking for me. Why the hell are you here? How do you know these guys?”

Her bottom lip trembles and it amazes me how the girl I have been with these past couple months, the girl who had the most fiery spirit, seems completely broken.

I place my hands on both sides of her face. “I get that you’re scared but I can’t do anything if you don’t tell me what is going on.”

“You can’t help me. You have to leave before they find you in here.” Her voice is a strangled sound.

“No fucking way. You need to tell me what’s going on.” I sit down next to her.

Her head shakes as tears fall down her cheeks. “I should have never gotten involved with you. I knew this time would eventually come.”

“What would eventually come?”

“Preacher, he’s my dad.” It’s almost so quiet that I miss it.

Fuck. She’s the Pres’s daughter? I don’t say anything yet, knowing there is more coming.

“The other guy. My dad owed him big time. I was the payment. He promised me to him.” She lowers her head again.

“Why would you just leave? You should have come to me. I could have done something. Shit, you’re mine and —”

“That’s where you’re fucking dead wrong.” A voice sounds from behind me and I stand to face Ammo. Preacher and my brothers are standing behind him. “Get the fuck away from her before I throw your ass out the damn window.”

I hear her cries increase behind me and my body goes rigid. The fear she has for him has me balling my fists ready to rip his damn head off. I won’t let anyone hurt her again. “Do what you need to. You’ll have to go through me to get to her.”

“Shooter, what the hell is your VP trying to pull?” Preacher looks over at me. “You come into my club and try to run shit?” His voice grows louder with each word. “Get your asses out of here right the fuck now. Consider this meeting over.”

“I’ll leave, but she’s coming with me.” I cross my arms hoping the bastard doesn’t test me. I haven’t gotten into a fistfight in a while. It isn’t a place I go to easily, because it’s a place that’s hard to come back from.

“The fuck she is.” Ammo takes a few steps toward me and I ready myself.

“Enough!” Shooter shouts. “We’ll take care of it, Preacher. Just give us a minute.”

“Fine, Shooter, but just ’cause the two of us go way back. You got one minute before the brothers will kick you all out on your asses.” Preacher walks out. “Ammo, let’s go.” The bastard’s eyes stay glued to mine for a minute and I’m almost daring him to make a move. He follows Preacher out the door.

“What the fuck is going on, Twisted?” Shooter is looking at me, his face tight with anger.

I move out of the way revealing Nikki. Shooter doesn’t recognize her because they never met, but Torch does. “Goddamn.”

“Will one of you please clue me in?” Shooter is now looking at Torch too.

“Shooter, this is Nikki.” I motion toward her.

His eyes go wide. “That girl you claimed?” I nod. He looks over at her. “They take you without your consent?”

She looks at me almost as if she’s scared to answer him.

“She said she’s Preach’s kid and that he gave her to Ammo as payment for some debt.” I repeat her story to him still trying to wrap my own head around it.

“No, Preacher’s got one kid. Girl’s name is Sara.”

We all look back at Nikki. “Wrong, she’s just the only one he claims.”

The door opens again and Preacher is standing there. “Time’s up. Get the fuck out.”

“Can I get a word?” Shooter turns toward him.

“No. I said y’all are leaving now. Get out or I’ll have you removed. You got no more business here.” He looks past us to Nikki and my blood boils at the expression on his face. He’s pissed, and he intends to take it out on her.

“You see this is the thing. That girl right there.” Shooter points at the mattress. “She is club property. My VP claimed her over a month ago.”

“Well, son, looks like you been duped.” Preacher looks over at me. “You might have thought you claimed her but she was already claimed. Ain’t our fault that she didn’t mention that.”

Before I can respond, half of the damn MC is standing behind Preacher. Torch looks over at me and shakes his head letting me know there is no way for us to come out on top right now.

My heart starts to race as I realize the likelihood of me getting her out of here is small.

Torch and Shooter take a couple steps toward the door.

They can’t expect me to just fucking leave her here. I won’t do it.

The group makes a small opening for us signaling our time is officially up. I turn to reach for Nikki and I hear a gun click behind me.

“Don’t even think about it, boy.” I look back to see Preacher aiming the gun at me.

Shooter moves closer to me. “We need to leave now.”

I look at him knowing how wrong it is to defy my Pres. Shooter has done so much for me that I would never consider disrespecting him, until now. “No.” He nods to Torch and before I can react the two of them are dragging me out of the room. I thrash and fight to break free of them, but they force me out of the door. I hear a low laugh as they drag me down the hallway.

Ammo is leaning up against the wall. “I’ll take good care of her.” He winks at me and I let out a roar. I charge toward him, breaking free of my brothers. I’m going to kill the fucker. They catch me only a couple feet away from him.

Silently the two of them continue to drag me out of the clubhouse. Once outside they push me in front of them. “You need to get your fucking head on straight. You go charging in there and you’re dead. Preacher won’t give a shit if you’re my VP.”

“I need to get her out of there.” I walk toward the door but they block my path.

“We need to go back to the club and regroup. You need to get on your damn bike and come back with us. You try to pull any shit and I’ll knock your ass out, then call one of the prospects to come get you.” Shooter looks at me expectantly. “Now. We need to talk this over and figure out what, if anything, we can do.”

I know he’s right but it doesn’t make this any easier.

I’m shaking with a mixture of anger and fear as I look at the place where the only girl I’ve ever cared about is. She’s scared, hurt, and needing me. Her image on that dirty mattress is all I see when I close my eyes. The way she looked at me as if she’s given up.

“Twisted!” I look and see the boys on their bikes. Shooter’s eyes are trained on me. “We need to go!”

I walk toward my bike, everything inside of me screaming that I need to go help her.

I throw one leg over it before starting the engine and pulling out of the lot.

I’ll be back for you.
