“I will have to go back to London tomorrow,” he announced.

“Okay,” she gulped, not wanting him to see how gutted she was.

Calvin’s a man she would move heaven on earth to make happy, he was unique, charming, and funny at times when he wished to be. Things had been far too serious recently loving to see him smile once again. When Calvin smiled, he gleamed his white teeth, eyes glowed and had this sweet thing of scrunching up his cute nose.

“Anyway…I had better be making a move, but you have my number…”

She furrowed her brows whilst gazing into his eyes.

“You deleted it like I told you too…gosh, must be a first a woman doing as her told.” He chuckled.

Sophie laughed with him, wagging her brows.

“I will send you a text.”

“I’m guessing you never deleted me?”

He shook his head.

“Typical man never doing as he is told,” she said, adding a tut and waving her finger.

“Oh well what can I say I’m not all perfect.” He laughed.

They both took the walk out the neonatal unit heading downstairs where the clouds were darkening hearing reports of threatening storms arriving.

“Right I have texted you…I will also inform you when I arrive in London, and hopefully if everything goes to plan, I will be back at the weekend, but no promises.”

“That’s fine,” she said, trying to hide the large lump dominating her throat.

Calvin leaned forward to kiss her on the right cheek allowing her to inhale his cologne, chocolate. He pulled back too soon, resenting him a little as she really would love a cuddle from him.

“Look after Kacey, if you need me call me…” he insisted, pressing his hand against her cheek as she almost tilted her head to enjoy the erotic touch.

“Okay,” she spoke softly.

Calvin turned around making his way to his BMW. Her heart sunk into her stomach, but at least this time they were back being friends and not arched enemies.

****

Calvin drove back to his parents, thinking of nothing but Sophie annoyed at what a complete asshole he had been to her earlier. She had somehow moved all the animosity to the side and forgave him. His heart wasn’t healed he still couldn’t decide what to do about his son. He wondered if going back to London would give him a chance to calm down narrow-up on his options might be the best medicine.

His phone started ringing having his phone connected to his car. He saw Ross being displayed on the car screen. He pressed the button to accept the call sounding out on the loud speaker.

“Hello, Ross,” he chirped.

“Well, you sound better. I guess you’ve managed to talk to Sophie?”

“We did, but there are still issues playing on my mind, but hopefully they will subside while I’m in London, give me time to think a few things over,” he thought to tell him.

“Good idea. I am heading down there in the next few days, am I able…”

“Of course you can, my good friend. I have told you, you don’t have to ask you can stay at mine whenever. I did give you the key I had cut?” he needed to double check.

“I have, my friend, already on my key ring. I will not bother you.”

“I hope you do, my friend, I will take you to some sights if we have time…I think I need to let my hair down remind myself that I’m still twenty-seven, even if approaching twenty-eight,” he gulped. When his mind invaded by the fact on his next birthday, it would’ve been ten years since…him and Sophie were in the barn also the night he got Sophie pregnant.

“Planning a birthday night out?”

“I doubt it.”

“Well, either way we will have a few drinks,” Ross scoffed.

“Yes, sounds like a plan. Would you do me another favor?” Calvin asked driving down the ‘A’ road getting closer to turning off down the lane leading to the hall.

“Fire away!”

“Could you keep an eye on Sophie, check in on her and make sure she’s okay. She can text or call me when she wishes, but…”

“You have a feeling she might lie a few times to avoid you worrying?” Ross said always reading his mind.

“Yes, please.”

“No problem, just stop fretting about her, earlier you wanted nothing to do with her,” he kindly reminded him.

“Yeah well, I was pretty heated. I hope I didn’t speak out of turn.”

“Don’t be daft. Calvin, I have known you for many years and we all reach some point on our lives where we want to blow. And I hardly blame you for the way you felt, or still feel. Look fate will take over and what will be, will be. Just don’t go stressing yourself. Where are you heading now?”

“Mum and Dad’s.”

“Okay, mate. Listen I will call you when I arrive at Kings Cross,” Ross told him.

They finished their call. Calvin drove down the narrow lanes heading toward the hall. He could see everything had suddenly bloomed looking full of life, even his heart had more life. Delighted, he had sorted things out with Sophie and now he could try and get on with his life the best he could. Ross had been right, there had been no chance of him leaving York, without having a conscience unable to take his mind of the matter. Ross knew him far too well.

Once home, he started packing his belongings. He sat down drinking a beer with his father as they talked about work, Calvin had been out the loop, and needed a serious catch-up.

Waking up early in the morning to make the drive back down to London, aware the traffic would build the closer he got to the capital, knowing he’d have to fight his way back into the city. He sighed at the thought, he also feared it would be the best thing for him, a change of scenery and back to the reality that was life.

Car loaded off he headed hitting the A1 making the journey down south. He listened to his tunes on his phone linked into his car, when
Deepest Blue,
by Deepest Blue played. His heart stop beating he could smell Sophie once again, her wonderful clean hair, long and silky, how he could run his fingers through her long strands never becoming bored. He liked her wearing her hair down, watching the way the wind would blow it away from her face, loving how it would fall naturally back to its place. Her radiant brown eyes, her lips…mouth, how he could kiss them and stay there forever. Those thought needed to be erased from his mind, reminding him she was only his friend.

He decided to head immediately to work to check out what had been happening or what he had missed, he bet the list was endless, it felt likes weeks since he had officially been working properly…
it was!
His plan would be office then his apartment to rest, as otherwise heading home would mean he would collapse on the sofa in front of the TV without any intentions of moving. So work was to be his first destination.

Calvin parked his car in the underground parking spot. He switched off the engine. He sat for a few seconds composing attempting to get his head into gear, although shattered from the long journey. He honestly wondered if heading home to bed would be a better option. He opened the car door and stepped out. Car locked he walked to the elevator to head up to his department.

He entered the department with the company name in a gold plaque written across the door black door
‘Edwards Real-Estate’
. He opened the door to see his secretary bending over her desk to reach for something. He lifted his brows, not wishing to admire her round bottom, but pretty difficult to miss. He coughed. He watched her turn around shocked.

“Mr. Edwards…hello,” she announced surprised.

“Good afternoon. If when you have a few minutes you could kindly join me in my office and talk through what I have missed these past few weeks.”

“Of course, Mr. Edwards,” she said standing up and straightening her skirt while blushing.

He stayed longer than he had wished at work. His biggest mistake had been checking his e-mails there were thousands, thankfully many his secretary could handle so he forwarded them to her.

Finally home…feeling exhausted. He walked down the lobby being greeted by the concierge, while being asked many questions. How was your holiday? York is so pretty, don’t you think? My wife loves visiting the Shambles and boutiques there. It’s a wonderful area to grow up in…
yeah, yeah, yeah!
Calvin reluctant to answer any questions the less he said the better, not that he was ashamed or anything, the story would go on for hours enough to write a damn novel just to explain it and in all honestly it was no-one’s business but, theirs.

Calvin headed up a set of steps to another elevator to take him up to his apartment, he would usually use the stairs but on this occasion he had his bags.

He arrived to his apartment seeing the large black door. So relieved to have his own space. He placed his key in the lock. He stepped inside activating the alarm. He quickly placed his bags on the floor, using his foot to kick the door shut. He walked to the cupboard where the alarm was and punched in the code hearing it de-activate. He sighed just enjoying the sound of peace and quiet. He turned around to look at the place. His home. His bachelor pad. A place he could come and be alone, gather his thoughts. It smelt fusty needing some serious fresh air floating through the place.

Calvin made his way into the kitchen diner to open the large window he heard immediately the sound of the manic London traffic, the sound of car horns,
oh the joys
, unsure if he’d be letting in fresh air. He debated to put the air-con on or nip out and get some fragranced air fresheners, but the thought of going out he really couldn’t be bothered to do being exhausted.

He knew he had to get the spare bedroom ready for the arrival of Ross in a few days.

Calvin looked at the kitchen with silver kitchen units on the back wall and the rest in white in a c-shape and the other side his glass table and white chairs with a teardrop chandelier hanging above.

He walked immediately through to his left to the lounge, with high raised ceiling, decorated in creams, golds, whites, and browns and another large chandelier his mum insisted on getting. His large plasma screen dominating the left wall with the mod-con surround sound and a glass coffee table…he stood staring at the table, not child friendly…he shook his head,
where had that thought come from?

Calvin walked out his lounge at the second entrance to the far right heading toward his bedroom. He inhaled a deep breath, tired, he yawned, betting the trip had caught up with him. He entered his boudoir with the bed to his far right dressed in browns, creams, and golds, with matching walls to his right. He turned to head into his large man-made dressing room, seeing all his suits hung up, looking like a glorified suit department, his shirts all hanging on their hangers, while his casual clothes were placed neatly in the draws below.

He had stacks of shoes, all made purposely for his feet made for comfort, he hated shoes that didn’t fit correctly. He stood staring at his closet…
where would Sophie put all her clothes?
He shook his head again, where were these thoughts coming from?

He continued to walk through his closet into his brown and gold, en-suite with a large wet room as he wasn’t a bath guy…he sighed, wondering if Sophie preferred baths. Again he shook his head needing to immediately replenish these thoughts.

He stripped off his clothes throwing them into the laundry basket. He found a pair of trunks putting put them on and only them.
I bet Sophie would love to see me wearing these!
“Bloody hell, Calvin, stop it,” he muttered to himself.

He stepped back into the bedroom, only wearing only his trunks, he could imagine Sophie lying on his bed, lifting her brows, admiring every inch of his nudity. How he would love nothing more than to have her sprawled out on his bed, waiting for him to ravish her. He paused that thought. He needed to seriously pull himself together. He gazed down his body noticing his hard erection. Calvin hitched his breath, just the thought of having Sophie in his bedroom would be enough to ease his hunger.

Calvin wandered out his room heading to the kitchen to put the kettle on, needing an urgent, strong coffee, when remembering he had no milk. “Flipping heck!”

He poured himself an orange cordial instead, not quite doing the job, it would do to quench his thirst. Still his manhood hard, he had to try and get rid of it, easier said than done!

Making his way to the spare bedroom close to the lobby and entered, needing anything to distract his thoughts or get rid of his hardness. The room decorated in black, silver, and white. The room immaculate, the bedding would need stripping and cleaning, if not replacing. He walked around the room checking for dust as he had a regular cleaner who came in. She must have been in earlier, due to the room being dust free. He opened the windows to soon check the en-suite, not as big as his own, but had a bath, toilet, and sink, again clean and smelt of lemons.

Sat in the lounge, he drew in a deep breath. He looked at the large screen, sound off, needing peace, only outside was extremely noisy, nothing like where he had just come from. Times like these he wished he still lived in York, well his parents place, and closer to Sophie and Kacey…and Sabastian.

He grabbed his phone and immediately needed to call Sophie, well he didn’t need to, but wanted to. He pressed dial the phone went to answerphone. He tried again, but nothing. Calvin had no choice but to leave her a text.
