“That’s great dad. Paige and I will do anything we can to help… Sure, if that’s what she wants,” Bobby chuckles to his dad on the other end. “Okay, I’ll let Paige know.”

“I can’t believe it. Jas and Marie, who would have ever thought,” Caitronia muses.

“Honestly, I suspected it a long time ago. Well before Bobby and Paige’s wedding. My suspicions were just confirmed when I saw the way he looked at her during rehearsals for Bobby and Paige’s wedding,” Minnie chortles.

“Yes, well there were allegations of those two having a love affair for quite some time,” James chuckles.

“Call them allegations if you like. I told you I had proof,” Earl laughs. “You are the one that wanted to let it run its course. Thomas was willing to keep him in the States to train him. You insisted we send him to Greece.”

“It was what you and Thomas thought was best for his career with Briggs Security. Marie was still young and trying to find her way. All in all, I think things turned out just fine,” James smirks.

“I guess you could say that. The Baroness has made life quite interesting for a few members in our little family. She turned out to be a pleasant surprise indeed,” Earl nods with a knowing smile to his best friend.

Caitronia frowns in confusion as Minnie’s eyes sparkle with mischief and knowing. “Who is the Baroness? What does she have to do with this,” Caitronia asks.

“Just a family friend,” Earl replies and kisses his wife soundly on the lips. “Your sister would be very proud.”

James jumps in to help along the distraction. “Raquel would be pleased with all of our bunch. I don’t think I could have picked a better match for any of them. It is good to see them all happy. Earl, I think you and I should leave the ladies here to get to planning. Marie had a lot of requests from what I overheard,” James chuckles and leans to kiss Minnie on the cheek before standing.

“That she does,” Minnie laughs.

“Spare no expense. My little girl deserves the world,” James says.

“I hope I get to furnish a nursery in their home soon since you are handling the wedding and Jas is not giving us enough time to plan an engagement party,” Caitronia chirps happily.

Earl bends to kiss her cheek. “I’m sure it won’t be long my dear,” he chuckles and follows his best friend from the room.

Chapter 20

“Please don’t rush here on my account. Nate sent over a team and I am in a safe location now. I may have overreacted,” Olivia pleads into the phone.

Olivia couldn’t help but feel like too much of a fuss was being made over her. The Briggs team that arrived at her condo took her straight to a secure location. It was way more than she was expecting.

The apartment was just as spacious as her condo. The refrigerator was filled and the bar fully stocks. Olivia had everything she could ask for. She was told she would need to stay put until her apartment was swept and a new security system was put in.

That was two days ago. Olivia didn’t want to be a pain, but she was getting tired of feeling like her life was being turned upside down. She was too old to be babysat and this was starting to feel a lot like when she was married to the Baron. She was ready to go stir crazy.

“Listen, I know you just want to get back to your normal routine, but I would like to look into all of this some more. I have been detained a little longer than I would like, but I am on my way to settle things there,” the voice on the other end comes back sounding the most frustrated Olivia had ever heard.

“You don’t have to come here. The new system should be installed. I’ll be fine. I really just want to go home and if you won’t be here until tomorrow then can’t someone clear my condo for me to return,” Olivia huffs, hating that she sounds like a brat at the moment.

There is a pregnant pause on the other line. Olivia didn’t realize she was holding her breath until she finally hears his voice speak again. “Okay, I will have a team swipe the condo and your building once more. I would prefer you wait for me, but won’t keep you from your life,” he sighs.

“Thank you. I appreciate all of this. I really do,” Olivia sighs in relief.

“I don’t like this. I will have two guys on you at all times. I also still plan to come check on things myself,” comes a muffled grumble through the line.

“I have no problem with that. I think it would be nice to put a face with the name,” Olivia purrs seductively.

“Sure, sure,” he chuckles. “I hope you are not too disappointed, Sweetheart. Listen, I have to go. Call me if you need me.”

“Thank you. I will. See you soon,” Olivia smiles into the phone.
