I had also developed something of a fear of doing the splits while on skis. Will thought this was hilarious.

We hit the bunny slopes a few times first to get back into the swing of boarding. Then Will challenged me to a race with a wicked sort of smile.

“You’re on.”

It was probably a mistake to give in to his teasing, but I always had found it hard to resist him. The first run we agreed to call a draw, especially since we’d both fallen more than once on the way down. The second time he beat me by a streak. I vowed to kick his ass the following day and called time on our session; it was getting close to dinnertime, and I wanted to be warm and changed by the time we were called down to eat.

I was pretty relieved to find out that our lodge was adults only, so we didn’t have to worry about screaming children running round ridiculously early in the morning. There were a few older couples who were there for the skiing and a few younger people too. Dinner that night had been made by one of the resort’s international seasonal workers. His name was Nathan, from Switzerland, and he was an amazing chef.

The twenty-six of us staying in the lodge ate around one huge communal table where we could help ourselves to steaming bowls of beef and mushroom or chicken and vegetable stew, served with freshly baked bread, rice, potatoes, and salad. After the time we’d spent outside in the cold, it was the perfect thing to warm us back up again.

Will was such an easygoing person, it seemed natural for him to fall into a conversation with whoever he sat with. I was content just watching him, eating in silence as he talked to an older gentleman who was telling him about coming to the same resort for the past twenty years. His wife was on his other side, smiling indulgently as her husband talked about their marriage and traditions.

“This is Jesse,” Will said, my name grabbing my attention. “He’s my partner.”

“Hi,” I said and lifted my spoon in greeting.

The man (I hadn’t paid attention to his name) grunted. “There seems to be a lot more of you gays around these days.”

I tried to hide my smile in my bowl of stew.

“Not that I’ve got anything against you, if you get my meaning,” he added. “It just seems like you’re breeding or something.”

“I assure you we’re not,” Will said, causing the wife to laugh out loud. “I think we’re just lucky to live in a society where we don’t have to hide anymore.”

The man humphed in what could have been agreement, then asked Will what trails we were planning to hit the next day.

I was always surprised when we had any kind of positive reaction to our relationship, even more so from the older generation. It seemed, though, aside from the crazy religious extremists, the world was becoming a more accepting place.

The evenings were almost as good as the days when we stayed at the resorts, especially where they had saunas and outside Jacuzzis. The ache in my arms and thighs always seemed to lessen in the hot water and breathtaking steam, even if it did freak me out that I was basically sharing a bath with a stranger.

Inside, the fireplace was huge, and despite the log cabin cliché, I would have hated it if there wasn’t an excess of slouching sofas and armchairs huddled around it. Will found two short glasses of whiskey and a paperback; my style was more my iPod and his arm around my shoulders. He didn’t mind me dozing on his shoulder but nudged me awake before it got too late and convinced me to take him to bed. It didn’t take much convincing.

We usually fell asleep close to each other and moved to our own sides of the bed as we slept, so it was a surprise to wake up the following morning with my face practically smothered by his chest. His arm was slung over my waist, and by his deep, consistent breaths, I could tell he was still sleeping.

It was nice to be like this with him, with the view out the window over his shoulder and the warmth of his body keeping me warm too, despite the cold I knew would be creeping in. Eventually, his breathing started to get shallower and the arm around my waist tightened.

“Good morning, beautiful,” I told him, not caring that it was cheesy as fuck.

“Morning,” he said, his voice raspy. Still, his lips soon found mine in a dry, scratchy morning kiss. I settled my head on his chest as he rolled onto his back and started running his fingers through my hair, combing out the knots.

I threw my leg over his and traced my fingers through the sparse hairs covering his chest.

“Wait. Is that a gray?”

He paused. Then said, “I hate you.”

I laughed, delighted. “I think it is. Do you want me to pull it out? But you should know three more will come to its funeral.”

“There are not enough words in the English language to describe how much I hate you.”

“Gosh, twenty-nine and already getting gray hairs.”

“I’m not twenty-nine for another month!”

“Ah, close enough.”

I shifted down the bed and pressed my face to his chest, right on top of his gray hair and his heart. I loved them both. It was nice, this staying in together every morning without either of us having to get up for work. Sure, we slept in most weekends, but there was usually something or other going on to occupy our time.

Will ran his fingers through my hair again, having better access to it now I’d moved back down.

“It’s getting long again,” he said.

“Mm. Not at the back though.”

He tugged my hair until I looked back up at him. His eyes softened and he smiled contentedly to himself.

“Aw, don’t go all mushy on me,” I said, teasing him.

Will laughed. “But I love you.”

“Shut up.”

He was still laughing as he rolled me over onto my back and pinned my hands above my head. “I do. I think you’re wonderful.”

“I’m not.”

“I want to spend my life with you.”

“How heterosexually dull.”

“I want to make babies with you.”

“We might have a problem there.”

He still had the same mushy look on his face as he lowered his lips to mine and kissed me softly.

“Are you even going to fuck me?” I asked as we broke apart, and I rolled my hips up to meet his.

“Nope,” he said and bit my nose lightly. “Come on. Let’s hit the slopes.”

I groaned loudly. “But my everything hurts.”

“Your everything?” he repeated, amused, as we headed for the bathroom. The shock of cool air outside of the warm sheets of our bed made my cock wilt.

“Yes,” I told him. “My spleen hurts. My eyeballs hurt. The spaces between my toes hurt. My—”

“I think I get it, Jesse,” he said as we waited for the shower to warm up. “I’ll see if I can get a massage booked in for you tonight.”

“Yeah?” I asked, perking up at the thought. “I’ve never had a massage before.”

“Never?”

“Nope. Apart from when you rub my feet for me. Or my shoulders,” I added hopefully, turning away from him and wiggling my ass.

“See, this is why I hate sharing a shower with you,” he grouched.

I turned, pouting at him patronizingly, and pinched his cheeks. “Aww. Baby.”

He leaned in and kissed my pout, then slapped my ass to get me moving. I liked it more than I was supposed to.

to ease into the boarding gently again but ended up being dragged into a game of tricks and showing off with a group of kids who clearly did this a lot. I wasn’t sure if they knew Will and I were a couple—I didn’t recognize any of them from our lodge—but if they did, they clearly didn’t care.

I was challenged to a race, which I lost, then made my own challenge, which I won. Sensing a victory streak, I threw my shoulders out, spread my arms, and brazenly called out to Will.

“What are the stakes?” he called back, sliding over and strapping his feet more securely to his board.

I shrugged. “You choose.”

Will leaned close to my neck and whispered, “Loser bottoms.”

I swallowed and nodded, knowing that
these
were stakes worth playing for.

The wind was starting to pick up a bit, and the sky was slowly turning gray. From the weather report that morning, I knew that another storm was expected later in the afternoon and that, reasonably, this should be our last run of the day to make sure we had time to get back safely.

The ski lift dropped us off at the top of the run, and we paused for a moment, long enough for a kiss, certainly, if that was what we’d wanted. Instead I shot him a smirk, hunkered down on my board, and shot off down the side of the mountain.

It was a race I wouldn’t have minded losing, in terms of the bet, anyway. Will always had been one of the best and the most giving lovers I’d ever had. But there was some little thrill in
winning
the right to fuck him that put a whole new spin on the race.

I beat him comfortably enough for him to know I wanted it, but not by enough to suggest that he wasn’t trying to win too. Or maybe he did let me. It was his suggestion, after all.

We arrived back at the lodge as the snow that had been forecast for that evening started to fall. Both of us were almost soaked to the skin, despite our protective clothing, and after leaving our snow boots at the door, we headed straight for the shower to warm back up again. I started the water as Will stripped off in the bedroom; then I heard him join me a few moments later.

“Do you need some help washing your back?”

It was an invitation. One that there was no chance in hell I was about to pass up.

“Only if it’s help from you.”

Will smiled, one of those warm, contented smiles that starts deep in the belly and spreads through the chest and outward until that little moment of happiness envelops anyone who has the fortune to stumble upon it. He began to gently remove my wet clothes while I stood still and let him, raising an arm or leg at the right moment to help.

When I was naked, I ducked under the shower and pulled Will in with me to the swirling heat. It didn’t take long for the water to warm us through. Then the kissing started. It was what I imagined kissing in the rain would be like, only more intimate, more private, more naked… and much warmer. Will’s wet hands ran up and down the length of my back.

“You smell like cold and outdoors.”

I smiled and nodded. “Probably.”

I heard the click of the bottle of shower gel; then strong hands and long fingers started to work it into my shoulders. He washed my hair with the same attentive care. Will made sure none of the suds ran into my eyes. That was important.

We were both hard, but that didn’t seem to matter too much. Will stood behind me now, his arms wrapped around my body while his fingers gently washed the mud from my hands. This too was strangely intimate—having someone else wash my hands. Not unpleasant, though.

“I think I’m ready,” Will said, his voice rising above the sound of the falling water.

“Me too,” I said softly. I turned the water off and laid a kiss on Will’s cheek. The room was dark because of the weather, not the late hour, and we walked to our bed hand in hand.

The storm had turned nasty as we’d showered; the snow swirled outside the window, making it impossible to see more than a few inches into the fray. We were lucky to have made it back before it got so bad.

I bounced onto the bed, then bounced a few more times to test the squeak of the springs and to make Will laugh. He rolled his eyes and shooed me onto my side of the bed, then maneuvered himself to lie facing me, his fingers in my hair.

I waited a moment before kissing him, and even then just laid my lips on his, slowly and softly. From his little moan of frustration, I knew he wanted more, but this was my chance to take control and I was going to make the most of it, teasing him just like he liked to tease me.

As my mouth opened and I flicked my tongue out against his to distract him, I pushed my knee between his and nudged him onto his back. Our kisses grew more intense as I moved to lie on top of him and spread his legs wide.

I pulled away from him and leaned back slightly, kissed his belly, his hips. Then with the pad of my finger, I circled Will’s tight opening gently before tucking my finger up and inside. Will gasped and I just had to kiss him again. It was an aching need I couldn’t ignore. Our kisses were sloppy with desire, tongues sliding together wetly and teeth leaving sharp little nips on swollen lips.

I switched my index finger with my middle one, then switched back again, stretching him until Will was ready for me to press both fingers in together. The tight ring of muscle clamped down around my fingers, and I buried my face in Will’s neck as we both gasped for breath.

It was my turn to laugh as I found the little raised bump deep inside Will and pressed up on it experimentally, causing Will to let out a most feminine gasp.

“There… right there,” Will said.

“I guessed as much,” I said, turning my head for more kisses.

“Please, Jesse, please,” he begged against my lips.

“Okay.”

I removed my fingers gently and sat back on my heels. I used more of the lubricant to slick my cock, probably taking more time than was necessary to make sure it was fully covered. As I did this, Will flipped himself over, dropping to his forearms and knees as he spread his legs obscenely wide. I could see the heavy balls hanging between his legs with their light dusting of dark curls and the thick cock with its aroused pink tip.
