“We have had a great time, I've learnt loads, and you would not believe how many channels we have on the television now.”
“I believe you!” said Draylon with a smile.
They went in to the front room to find Karlon slowly emerging from his slumber. He looked at Draylon and smiled, glad to see his son in one piece. Draylon handed Karlon the glass of water that he had made for him, and then sat down with them both and told them all about the battle. Paul could see the sadness in his friend's eyes as he told of all the lives lost, both grey and green. Draylon valued all life down to the tiniest creature.
“So they are coming then?” said Paul.
“Yes, I'm afraid, approximately fifty of them.”
“And there are fifty craft belonging to the pale greens in the Amazon?” asked Karlon.
“Yes, we are evenly matched,” said Draylon deep in thought.
“Everything will work out Draylon, I am sure,” said Paul with a smile.
Draylon looked up at his friend and smiled back, “Let us hope so my friend.”
Draylon mentioned that he had been telling the pale greens of their adventures, and that they were very much looking forward to meeting both Paul and Karlon. Paul was excited about the idea, which surprised Draylon, and he wondered where the once shy person was now. Karlon was a little apprehensive being that he was one of the enemy and he had once attacked both Paul and Draylon. Draylon sensed his father's fear and assured him that not one of them thinks ill of him as we all make mistakes. He went on to explain that they were eager to meet Terspheriton's top scientist. With that Karlon smiled and blinked his large eyes.
“Maybe I could manage a brief visit then my son.”
“That's great! I thought you'd come around,” said Draylon grinning at his dad.
Paul and Karlon got themselves groomed and ready, and then Draylon opened a portal and they stepped through, destination the Amazon, to meet the pale greens.
They arrived at the Amazon and both Paul and Karlon felt overwhelmed by the many pale greens. Paul stood there frozen with his mouth open, and Karlon huddled in closely to Paul. Draylon laughed at them both, which eased their tension a little, and then he started introducing them to his pale green friends. In a matter of minutes they were both completely comfortable, and were surprised to realise that the greens were genuinely interested in both Paul and Karlon. Some of them wanted to hear about Paul's adventures, whilst others were interested in science and so bombarded Karlon with many questions. They both found themselves having a really good time. Draylon and Brandlin stood back and watched with big smiles on their faces.
Brandlin suggested that when the final battle was over, maybe Karlon would like to join him back on his planet. Draylon felt saddened at first, but then realised that with his gift of teleportation, it would seem as if his father was only next-door. Therefore, Draylon agreed with Brandlin that it was a very nice idea, because Karlon's life would be very limited on Earth being cooped up in Paul's flat.
The day wore on and Draylon took a walk with his father into the jungle to discuss their plans for after the war. He was surprised to find that his father had enjoyed his day chatting to the pale greens, and thought it a brilliant idea to go back with Brandlin to his planet. After all, there was so much that Karlon had to offer, as he was a pure genius when it came to science. Draylon put his arm around Karlon's slender shoulders and assured him that when the time came, he would be missed, and that he had grown very fond of him since being reunited at The Great Pyramid.
All of a sudden Karlon froze and pointed ahead. It was a cougar, and it was prowling towards them. Draylon stood in front of his father and told him not to fear. The cat came closer and closer, and then started to run at them. Suddenly a roar came from the side of them. Another large cougar jumped out and ran towards them furiously, Draylon braced himself. He was shocked when the new cat pounced at the original cougar, slashing at it with all of its might, until it ran away scared. Draylon recognised the mighty beast. It was the one that he had pulled the arrowhead out of. The cougar walked expressionless over to Draylon and licked his arm. Draylon ruffled his head and smiled, and then the large cat prowled back off into the dense forest. Karlon was white as a ghost and Draylon smiled. He explained to Karlon what had happened when he and Paul previously met the cat, Karlon was amazed.
They made their way back to camp where Paul and Karlon said their farewells before Draylon took them back via a portal. Once at Paul's flat they decided it was time for food in which Paul decided on a Chinese take away, Karlon's face lit up.
It was Sunday the 13th of September 2015 at 10 a.m. on Easter Island. Many months had passed by. Draylon, Paul, Karlon and the pale greens had all become really good friends, and it pained Draylon that the day had finally come to leave for war. He had thought long and hard about this day, and all of his plans were ready to materialise, for better or for worse he would soon know.
“I am coming with you Draylon,” said Karlon.
“No Father, it's unnecessary.”
“It wasn't a question Son. I can ride with Brandlin, I owe him at least that after the kindness he has shown me. Please, allow me to make amends.”
“You have nothing to make amends for. You have been the father I always wanted.”
Karlon smiled, “Thank you, truly my son, but I need to do this.”
“OK, but Paul stays.”
Paul grinned, “I would have it no other way. I'll keep the house tidy and the fridge stocked whilst you are away. Just make sure that you return in one piece.”
“Don't worry my friend. I have no plans to die today, or the next for that matter.”
Paul hugged Draylon and then Karlon, and tried his best not to shed a tear, but he was clearly upset.
“We'll be back before you know it,” said Draylon, as he and Karlon left Paul's flat.
As they stood outside, Draylon focused his ability of teleportation and opened a portal to the Amazon. A shimmer appeared before him, and they both stepped through. They were both amazed to find that the pale greens had been very busy. Their camp was all cleared away, their craft were loaded and maintained, and they were all ready to depart.
Brandlin appeared from his craft and made his way over to them both. Karlon asked if he would be able to accompany him, as he didn't wish to hinder Draylon at all. Brandlin was more than happy to have him on his ship. They discussed plans for a short while, and then Brandlin made his way back to his saucer to start giving orders of the imminent departure.
“You take care of yourself Father,” said Draylon, his eyes welling up a little.
“Do not worry my son, everyone here believes in you.” Karlon paused. “Isn't it strange? Our race spent many, many years, trying to create the perfect hybrid. Our plan was to infiltrate the human race, and to observe and collect intelligence. And when we finally created the perfect hybrid, we no longer required it, and we sought to destroy it. You are by far my greatest creation. My son.
Draylon smiled and hugged Karlon, “I love you Dad.”
Karlon smiled, “Good boy.”
Karlon turned and made his way to Brandlin's ship. Draylon walked over to his craft, walked the platform, and then closed the door behind.
All engines started, and the many saucers started to elevate, up and out of the Amazon jungle. Draylon manoeuvred his craft to the front and then focused his ability to open a portal as discussed with Brandlin. The large portal shimmered, a gateway to Antarctica, the place of the final battle. Draylon had convinced Brandlin that the more power they conserve the better, then they would stand their best fighting chance. The saucers sped towards the portal, and in less than a minute they were all through, all of them except for Draylon. Draylon closed the portal behind them.
Draylon was now alone on Earth. He wasn't about to lose any more lives in battle. He loved his father, Brandlin, and all of the pale greens that he had met, they deserved life. Draylon hadn't sent them to Antarctica as planned. Instead he sent them home to be with their families. He thought of Brandlin and his offspring and smiled to himself, he had made the right decision.
Draylon headed off to the Antarctic, and when he arrived he found a mass of level ice with the ferocious sea on one side. He thought it the perfect place to do battle, and so landed his saucer on the gigantic icy surface. He relaxed back and cleared his mind for a short while, he felt at peace, and ready to take on whatever came his way.
After some time he sent a signal into space to alert the greys of his whereabouts, knowing full well that they would come for him. The signal was sent using alien technology, and it was undetectable by any equipment on Earth. Draylon was a little worried that the greys may not be in stealth mode, and therefore may alert the leaders of Earth. Then he figured that it was in their best interest to be in stealth mode, especially as they are now only fifty as opposed to one thousand.
Draylon decided to place his flawless metallic ring on his pointing finger, and to his shock, they were here, the greys were here much earlier than expected. Draylon got out of his craft and walked the platform onto the ice, he felt no cold, the power of the amulet had made him harder than iron. He walked away from his ship and then stood on the battlefield, waiting for the first sight of the greys.
On the horizon Draylon noticed a glimmer, as if the sun was reflecting off a metallic surface. And then he could make out shapes. They were coming, fast. Draylon could feel his heart quicken, he felt nervous and wondered if he would come out of this alive. And then he thought of Adriana, and he started to calm. Draylon was ready for whatever the greys had to throw at him.
Draun and Vilandar led the pale greys. All fifty saucers approached the giant slab of ice. Draun detected no enemy craft in the area other than that of Draylon's, and he grinned to himself when he saw Draylon standing alone on the icy surface. One by one all of the saucers landed in an arrow-like formation, with Draun and Vilandar at the sharp point of the front. The two greys exited their craft and walked towards Draylon.
Draun was a slender, authoritative looking grey, he walked with his long arms hung loosely by his knees and he grinned as he approached Draylon. Vilandar was five feet tall like his master and friend, Draun. Although Vilandar was well built and tough with a very hard look about him, he relished the idea of annihilating the planet of all primitive life forms.
“Please, leave Earth alone, it is not a threat to you,” said Draylon.
“You're beloved humans do not deserve this planet, look at how they abuse it. And you are correct, it is not a threat because we are going to wipe the face of the Earth clean of all your putrid humans.” said Draun telepathically, sickened by the spoken word, and sickened by anything homo sapien.
Vilandar said nothing, but he stood staring at Draylon, wanting nothing more than to tear him to shreds.
“Please, I beg of you, there has to be another way?” said Draylon pleading.
“You only have one option. Death!”
With that, both greys turned their backs to Draylon and walked back to their ships. Draylon started to panic once again, as Earths existence rested upon his own shoulders, and the weight was starting to crush him.
All of a sudden Vilandar blasted at Draylon from his stationary position on the ice. A great white beam of light, a phenomenal power directed straight at Draylon. Draylon reacted with lightning speed, holding up his right hand and creating a force field, which deflected the blast. Draun then blasted in succession, as did Vilandar once again and several others. Draylon struggled to keep the force field up. The firepower was becoming too great for him. And then the force field gave way, and Draylon was knocked a hundred feet landing hard on his back.
Draylon gasped for breath and shook his head becoming lucid once again, as he was very close to being knocked out cold. He heard a strange slithering noise to the right of him, he jerked quickly to see what it was, and to his astonishment, it was a snake. It was the same snake that Draylon had encountered at the chapel in Ethiopia. It slithered right up to draylon's hand and then transformed itself. It had become a staff once again.
Draylon stood to his feet quickly, and seemed to know exactly what to do. He slammed the staff on the solid ice surface and behold, the gigantic mass of ice started to crack. The crack wound its way directly toward the pale grey craft still on the icy mass. They started to panic, and the saucers started to take flight. Some of them weren't so lucky, they were caught off guard and their flying saucers slipped and fell into the freezing cold ocean beneath. The sound of the ice cracking resonated for miles, a terrifying noise that provoked a mass panic and caused avalanching and mass devastation for miles on the frozen continent. Draylon stood with his face stern and angry, and he pitied the fate of these greys that dared threaten the race of men.
The greys formed up in the sky and Draylon was caught unaware as they blasted at him. He was knocked savagely many hundreds of feet into the sea. The saucers hovered above wondering if Draylon had met his doom. And then, minutes later Draylon rose from the water with his arms outstretched, water poured off his body, and he walked on the surface of the water with a face as fierce as a lion. When on the land mass once again he held up both hands, and using his telekinetic ability he caused two saucers to crash into one another with an almighty force. They exploded meeting a brutal end, their useless lumps of metal crashing to the ground into an unfathomable heap.
The onslaught came on harder, and Draylon used his blue force field to deflect the blasts from the grey craft. One came swooping in low and fast to take out Draylon, and he reacted with awesome speed focusing his ability to manipulate matter and crushing the ship like an empty drinks can, as it came crashing to the ground and wedging itself deep within the ice.
