What? I didn’t hack Adam! Who
are you? And why are you being such a jerk?” said Jade as she
looked over toward the clean shaved man who wore a gray jumpsuit
with black military boots.

Serafina interrupted and cut Izri
off before he could reply, “Please, let me deal with this,
ok?”

Go ahead, deal with it. But
whatever you do, you better do it fast. The last thing I want in my
facility is some smart nose little kid thinking she is entitled to
asking questions.”

As those last words formed from Izri’s mouth,
Serafina quickly looked at Jade and gave her a look that read,
“Keep your mouth shut.”

Jade was familiar with this look and complied
without resistance.

Both of you will be staying in sleep module
fifteen down the hall to your right. Meet me in my office once you
get Jade settled,” ordered Izri.

Ok,” said Serafina.

As Izri walked away, Serafina
grabbed Jade’s hand as if she was a preschooler, and walked briskly
to their new quarters. Jade still processing her unpleasant
encounter with Izri and the roller coaster ride she just
experienced, was also trying to take in the awesome beauty of her
surroundings. She was mostly impressed with how this facility was
able to combine all of these technical advancements into a work
area that radiated so much beauty and tranquility. She became
enthralled with the large black dome that overlaid with the
different shades of blues, oranges, yellows, and reds radiating off
the many different holographic galactic achievements. The
technology certainly seemed alien to her, little did Jade know most
of it was.

Serafina walked into their temporary living space,
which was not as impressive as the main working area, but it still
had its pleasantries. There were two separate beds and each with
its own data terminals. The blue room with dark reddish trim had
its own small kitchenette area and bathroom. Above the entry way
the symbol for infinity hung proudly.

Will you now please tell me what is going
on?” asked Jade.

Have a seat,” said Serafina.

Jade pulled up a small stool and complied.

Thank you for trusting me. I
know when I picked you up at Central Circuit you had a lot of
questions, and after I gave you my brief explanation of how we
needed to get away, you did not argue. I am sorry you had to go
through those traffic obstacles we encountered, but unfortunately
we did not have much of a choice.”

That’s ok, it was kind of
exciting.”

It was,” smiled Serafina as she
continued, “The trust you showed earlier, I am hopeful it will
continue. There are events that have come into being, which even I
do not understand. We all have been given certain tasks in life,
some are mapped out for us, others we get to choose. You are very
fortunate because most of your choices that are to come are ones
you will get to direct. How ever you decide to move forward, I will
support you and protect you in everyway possible. I am here to help
make you the person you want to become.”

Jade interrupted, “I’m sorry
Serafina, but I don’t understand. What’s going on? Why did I have
to leave Reece so quickly? Why were the cops after us and why did
that man with the military haircut think I hacked Adam? I love Adam
and certainly wouldn’t do anything to hurt him.”

You do not have to convince me
of this Jade, nor anyone else for that matter. Never mind what Izri
said, he was just blowing off steam and he is used to people
expecting his directness. As for why we had to leave Central
Circuit the way we did has to do with an organization that has an
agenda, which will literally change life on your planet. They have,
for some reason, chosen you as their scapegoat, probably because
they see you as a threat.”

A threat, how am I a threat?”

Jade, you have not even come to realize a
quarter of your full potential. Your mental development and
awareness is beyond anyone that I have ever met. And believe me, I
have met a lot of people.”

What does this all mean? I would like it if
you could please give me some answers. Can you at least tell me
what is going on with Adam?”

As you may know, Adam is in
surgery and it is critical.” Serafina noticed Jade’s eyes filling
with tears, but continued to explain, “Someone on Adam’s team
purposely planted a virus that would erode his matrix.”

Jade again interrupted, “You’re not suggesting it’s
Reece because if you are…”

Serafina returned the interruption, “We know that
Reece had nothing to do with it. We narrowed it down to three
people and hopefully we will have that person identified soon.”

Why would they want to destroy
Adam?”

Adam is seen to some people as a
threat. He represents the next step in your planet’s
evolution.”

Wait, did you say ‘your’ planet? You meant
our planet, right?”

No, I mean your planet. You
wanted answers, well you are going to get a huge one.”

Are you implying you’re an
alien? Because you sure don’t look like one,” laughed Jade, failing
to take this newfound information seriously.

What do aliens look like,
Jade?”

I don’t know, like, little gray people with
big eyes.”

I would have thought you’d be
more open minded when it came to matters of this nature. I am
disappointed in you,” replied Serafina.

Disappointed, are you for real?
You’re telling me you are from another planet.”

Serafina sent a message to Jade telepathically, “Can
I explain?”

Jade jumped from her stool and yelled, “How did you
do that? Did you hack my PIC?”

No, my species is telepathic. We can
communicate with other humanoid life forms without using our vocal
cords. Now will you give me the opportunity to explain?”

As Jade collected herself, she
again sat down and said, “Ok, but can you speak to me with your
voice? That was too weird.”

Is this better?” asked
Serafina.

Much.”

Ok, as I was saying, I am not
from this planet, but from a planet called Tureis. We are
scientists that have been on your planet since the first humanoid
stood upright. We have witnessed your species go through so much
and rarely interfere, unless we deem it to be a necessity. A group
on my planet feels it would be inappropriate to allow your species
to take the next step, into artificial intelligence, within your
humanoid evolution. Therefore, they planted operatives close to
Adam, in the event your species ever achieved success. Their
mission was to invoke some type of accident and temporarily rob
your planet from climbing that next evolutionary step.”

So, are you saying you’re here
to protect us from these people?”

Yes.”

So did they just hop on their
spaceships, fly to Earth, infiltrate my government, and one of the
most secure companies in the world in an attempt to destroy
Adam?”

You almost have it right. The
only thing you are mistaken about is we do not use spaceships.
Intergalactic space travel takes too long and is too
dangerous.”

How did you get here then?” asked Jade
surprisingly.

We downloaded.”

You what?”

We downloaded, similar to when an Earthling
downloads a piece of software wirelessly to their PIC.”

How is that possible?”

You need to look at the humanoid
body as a vessel as one looks at an android’s body. We have the
technology to transport our consciousnesses through space and into
a humanoid body on your planet. There are a number of relays we
have deployed in space, similar to Earth cell towers, and these
relays transmit our program from one planet to another.”

So you steal other people’s
bodies?”

Neither citizens of my planet,
nor I, take anyone’s body that is currently in use, unless they are
an Earth Floater.”

I’m aware of what Floaters are,
but what would you consider an Earth Floater?”

They are Earth humanoids who serve our
cause.”

What’s your cause?” asked Jade.

Existence. You see, when a human
from your planet dies, their consciousness gets uploaded to our
planet and screened to determine if they have reached the level for
what we call ‘merger.’ If they are not ready to merge they get
returned to their home planet and re-installed into a newborn
baby.”

Jade looked at Serafina with
utter disgust, “Newborn baby, that’s so cruel. You’re taking a
child’s life away when they’re born? Why would you do
that?”

On the contrary, we are giving
it life. If an infant is born on a harvested planet, to include
Earth, and we do not transfer a field program to it, that infant
will become a stillbirth. You see, Jade, the biological shell used
by humanoids does not normally have the ability to create its own
consciousness, so we have to implant one.”

What do you mean,
normally?”

There have only been two cases
on your planet where an infant has been born, rejected our field
program, and yet somehow developed its own consciousness without
our intervention.”

Two? Who were they?”

In the first instance, he was
killed over two thousand years ago, before he could fulfill his
true destiny. As for the second, we will find out their identity
soon enough.”

When?”

You need to have patience, Jade.”

Every time I get an answer I end up having
more questions, it’s like I’m living a riddle.”

Welcome to consciousness.”

Thanks, that helps. So what are you doing
here?”

I am here to help restore the
balance.”

Restore balance, what’s out of
balance? Our planet is doing just fine.”

Is it? I am not referring to
just your planet, I am also referring to my planet. You see, Jade,
there are two predominant factions on our planet, one believes we
should intervene with your planet’s development and the other feels
we should leave your planet alone with minimal involvement. The
first faction believes our sole duty as Tureissians is to keep
humanoids and other living organisms safe from outside threats. The
other faction believes they should be directly involved with your
evolution as a species and assist your planet along the way by
interjecting our own methodology. Neither faction means to do any
harm - they both have great intentions. But there have been moments
when both factions get misdirected and go from one extreme to the
other. In order to have a successful world we need to maintain a
balance between both sides and allow diversity to unfold. It
appears when those balances become out of tilt a very special and
unique consciousness is somehow created into a newborn humanoid
who, in turn, helps restore this balance.”

Who is this newborn?”

I told you, time will
tell.”

You’re certainly not helping any,” muttered
Jade.

Patience, the answers will come
to you, just not all at once. Now please rest, I need to go and
report to Izri, he does not accept excuses. And if I wait too long
to debrief him, he will view it as me falling behind in my duties
and remove me without hesitation. I will be back soon. Just know
Jade, that you are safe; you will always be safe.”

Ok that’s comforting, I guess, but how do you
know that and what does that really mean? See, more
questions.”

Rest, now.”

Serafina?”

Yes, Jade.”

I trust you, I don’t know why, but I
do.”

As Serafina stood up she gave
Jade a kiss on her forehead and told her to rest. Jade felt an
intense need to lie down and fall asleep. She tried to fight it by
thinking about the day’s experiences, but the one thought that kept
plaguing her mind was Adam’s condition. It surprised her that she
was more concerned about Adam than of what Serafina had just
informed her. It is not everyday someone knowingly meets an alien
from another planet, let alone learns they have been living here
since the first Earthling stood upright. The more and more Jade
thought about it the heavier her eyes became until she fell into
the deepest sleep she had ever had, prior to her mother’s
passing.

Serafina walked down the same hallway that led her
to their room, came back to the main entrance, and followed a
flight of stairs to the second level balcony where she saw Izri
sitting down at an oval table reviewing data on a holoscreen.

So, did you tell her?” asked Izri.

No, not yet, I am slowly
breaking it down for her. I figured explaining to her about our
purpose was enough for one day.”

I do not really care how you break it to her.
It just needs to be done – and soon!”

I promise she will know by the end of
tomorrow,” explained Serafina.
