Public role play—especially in everyday roles—can be a secret thrill that you both share, right in front of everyone. For instance, you can pretend to meet a total stranger (actually your lover), carry out a seduction, then adjourn for sex elsewhere, complete with witnesses to cement your roles. Or you can take the roles a bit further, impersonating a job applicant in an interview, a sex worker picking up a client, or someone really famous (a porn star!) picking up a groupie for a little casual sex.

Be sure you choose your roles wisely. Don't put yourself in a position where your boyfriend may be late and you actually are mistaken for a real sex worker, and the hotel staff calls the police because you are soliciting in their lobby. Don't be caught enacting any scenarios that may get you in trouble, such as pretend abductions or age play (where one of you plays an obviously underage character). And don't charge into the 7-Eleven in your sorcerer robes to use your mind control powers on the pretty wench in the candy aisle, even if she's your wife.

Classic Roles

It's one thing to have an idea already in your head, but sometimes it's nice to glean new ideas to stir the pot. Once you decide on an appealing role or scenario, where do you go from there? You can flesh out your characters with the descriptions of classic scenarios below—let the characters' motivations inspire you to action.

Boss

Corporate authority figures dress impeccably and have big desks, notepads, and briefcases, phones that need answering, dictation that needs taking, and they often have to work late hours. The pressure is immense, and they require reliable help. When interviewing prospective staff they usually need to find out what the applicant is capable of, and the promise of sexual favors in exchange for getting the job is a strong incentive. Bosses like to give dictation to their secretaries while letting their hands wander, punish bad receptionists for improper dress or attitude with clients, blackmail workers for sex, search employees for stolen Post-Its and pens, and check for appropriate undergarments.

Cat Burglar, Criminal, Biker

Outfits include tight, form-fitting, all-black cat suits with masks, gloves, and boots, “thug” attire, biker leathers (vests, chaps, sunglasses, bandanas, fake tattoos), and stockings over the face. Burglars, criminals, and thieves have sacks of loot and rope (for climbing or binding), can possess fighting abilities, may sneak up from behind or hide in the bedroom, ride into town on loud bikes and “take” what they want, or can be caught in the act of stealing or being bad. They may trade sex for freedom,
may take sexual favors as easily as a precious jewel, put you over their bike and have their way with you, or just make great anonymous lovers in darkened rooms, alleys, or rooftops. Cops like to catch criminals, know what I mean?

Cheerleader, Football Captain

The uniform may come out of mothballs, from an authentic online resource, thrift store, Halloween store, or stripper outlet, but they remain the same: Cheerleaders have short skirts, pom-poms, pig- or ponytails, little white socks; football players have jerseys or letterman jackets. Cheerleaders can be sexually inexperienced or very experienced, looking for a ride home, dressing in the locker room, showering with other cheerleaders, under the bleachers, in the backseat of a car after the big game. Doctor, Nurse

Classic doctors and nurses wear white uniforms, unless they're in surgeon's scrubs. Multiple Partners

Pimp

Pimps and hustlers can be of either gender, and their sexual chattel can be women, men, trans people—anyone the pimp fancies. Pimps have money and style, though it's an exaggerated style that often becomes a campy costuming experience—big hats, gold chains, big rings, flashy suits: Use your imagination. Pimps persuade their moneymaking staff with sex, coercion, and, of course, by “breaking them in.” They can be rough or gentle, smooth or streetwise. This role works especially well with an opposite, such as the “innocent” street urchin, or for twice the fun, the police officer.

Police

Officers are clad in dark-blue uniforms with shiny badges, leather belts, and polished shoes. They can have mirrored shades, utility belts, handcuffs, nightsticks, clipboards, and hats. (Fake guns are for indoor, private play only; in public, a fake gun can produce a tragic response from onlookers). Cops can stop suspects, ask tough questions, become suspicious about alibis, frisk and search, cuff and rough up, intimidate, threaten, and exact sexual favors.

Priest, Nun

Outfits for these icons are most easily obtained at Halloween, and once suited up, it's time for confession! These roles can be either proper (and then seduced) or debauched (and decadent). The priest or nun might hear confessions, force a few Hail Marys out of you, administer spankings, help you find the proper position for worship, lose their virginity, flagellate themselves or others for impure thoughts, or seek other priests/nuns for sexual solace.

Prostitute, Sex Worker

Prostitutes, high-class call girls, escorts, strippers, and erotic masseuses can dress in a variety of sexy outfits, from trashy to classy, and especially clothing that is revealing. Streetwalkers will go for wigs, short skirts, no underwear, heavy makeup, high heels, and a small purse with condoms in it. Strippers and masseuses can wear less, opting for lingerie, wigs, and heels—g-strings and straps make a good place to put tips. Expensive “dates” wear suitably expensive evening or business wear. All sex workers will want to have lube on hand. Your motivation will be to please your client, and you can name your menu of activities and charges, and your limits—then go beyond them for that “special” customer.

Repairman, Deliveryman

Showing up at someone's door to deliver a special package or to fix a broken drain requires an outfit that represents your job and profession. Delivery personnel will want brown shirts and shorts, or navy blue shorts and a crisp white shirt—plus a cap, a clipboard, and a parcel. Repair people will need work clothes, a badge or patch bearing someone's name, and plenty of tools—wrenches, lube, sex toys.
