paintings looked like I just dumped a can of paint of a canvas and

walked away.” Eve explains. “Please ask him if he is aware of my new paintings. I got so tired of him complaining that I was wasting my

time and energy that I only painted during the day when he was

gone. I stopped showing him my work. But after he died, I needed

something. I started painting with a vengeance. It has helped me so much to be able to express myself through art.”

“Oh, I feel like he knows.” I tell her. “I get a very clear image of him in a room where you are painting. It has one wall covered with

windows and it looks out over a garden.”

Eve excitedly answers me. “Yes, that is amazing. How do you

know that?”

“Your husband is showing me this.” I continue to get feelings of

regret from Eric. “I feel that he realizes how much his criticism affected you. He understands your art work much better now and he

is happy you are enjoying it.”

“That is almost too hard to believe.” Eve looks at me in confu-

sion. “He never had anything good to say about it.”

I began to get a few images and feelings from Eric that I strug-

gling to understand. I decide to just tell Eve what I am experiencing and let her interpret it. “I keep seeing an image of what looks like a party or a group of people. It is very colorful and active. I am confused though, because instead of feeling light and fun, I feel a sense

of dread and even anger. Then I feel apologies from Eric. He tells

me that his behavior was indefensible. Does this make any sense to

you?”

Eve took a few minutes to answer me. “A few months before Eric

died, we went to a party. Maybe he is talking about this. We never

resolved an argument we had. We went to the opening of an exhibit

of a friend of mine at a new gallery. It was a very interesting crowd, all kinds of people. I was having so much fun. My friend is gay. Eric has always had a difficult time being around gay people. He was

very uncomfortable and wanted to leave early. Actually demanded

we leave early. We fought on the way home. Do you thing he is re-

ferring to the party?”

“I get the impression from Eric, that he regrets his actions. He

wants you to know that he is learning. This might be hard to hear.”

I tell Eve. “I get the impression from your husband that he feels that his passing over is giving you a new start at life. He realizes how much his negativity affected you. You were not able to create and

do what you most loved to do. He is happy for you, even joking

about it. He shows me an image of you surrounded by color and

energy. It helps him, he tells me. He did not know how to change,

how to relax and let go. Now he has to. You are an inspiration to

him.”

“Eric was a good man.” Eve tells me. “He just always thought the

worst. He worried and complained about everything. The older he

got, the more suspicious he was of others. It is sad how much we

missed out on. I wish that he could have felt this way when he was

here. But, I am glad that the heaviness is gone. Maybe now he can

let himself be happy.”

“He is moving in the right direction.” I assure her. “Your hap-

piness and positivity is helping him. Do all the things that you

wanted to do, but could not do when he was here. He is with you

in spirit, enjoying them right along with you. This is his opportu-

nity too. Before we end your husband wants me to be sure to tell

you that he loves you. Always has and always will, he wants you to

know.”

“I know that he loves me.” Eve looks at me with tears in her eyes.

“I guess that I am running the show now. I miss him. But, knowing

that he is close helps.”

Transform with Gratitude

I love the image of April’s father surrounded by white light chains which connect him to angelic love. I would like to think that Eric

and others like him who need an extra infusion of love, are also

connected to the angels in this way.

We do not have to wait until we die, however to experience the

love and positivity that is always available to us. The earth challenge of transforming negativity into positivity is one that we all engage in on a daily basis. There are some basic things that you can do that will help steer you toward the positive, despite what comes our way.

Develop the attitude of gratitude. Every day before you go to

bed review the day and have gratitude for the positive that has

come your way. No matter how big or small it may appear to be.

Even if it is simply a smile from a stranger or an easy drive home

from work, the more you notice the positive the more it will come

your way. When you have negative experiences or feel critical or

judgmental, remind yourself that this is just life’s way of steering you in the direction of what you truly want. Tell yourself that the negative that you are experiencing is simply information that offers you a choice. Instead of indulging in what you do not like, know

that it will pass. The less energy you give to it the sooner it transforms by your positive perspective. Ask you angels and spirit guides for help. You might even want to imagine yourself attached to the

angels through golden rings of love.

Alzheimer’s, Dementia, Coma’s

—Repeating Life Lessons

The soul never wastes an opportunity. No matter what an in-

dividual’s physical appearance or condition may be, the soul

is at work doing all that it can do to heal and advance one’s high-

est good. I have worked with many people who have loved ones

who are suffering with conditions like dementia and Alzheimer’s or

are unresponsive and in comas. Although it may appear that they

are ‘wasting away’, confused, despondent or unreachable, soulful

activity is taking place. When I give readings to people who have

loved ones suffering with these types of illnesses their spirit is often in a suspended state in-between the physical and the light of the

other side. Those in these states are usually intuitively aware of me and are able to give messages to my eager clients. Less often, their consciousness is floating close and still connected to their physical body. Yet I am unable to directly communicate with them.

The Unifying Ego

The human ego unifies our consciousness. The personality self that

we present to the world is just one aspect of our multidimensional

selves. We are our subconscious, our memories, thoughts and feel-

ings, our soul’s entire accumulated experiences and an aspect of the
157

collective consciousness. In the human experience our ego bundles

all these up into what appears to be one self. When people are ex-

periencing Alzheimer’s, dementia or in unresponsive states, this veil of control is no longer present. In readings when I connect with

people suffering from these conditions I often feel as if I am com-

municating with more than one person. Their soul and spirit are

intact. But they may be simultaneously emotionally and mentally

re-living a past memory, experiencing a new activity, inhabiting a

celestial realm or even living as another person in a very different experience than their current physical situation. Even though in the human realm this will appear as mental and emotional chaos, confusion and an out of touch state of turmoil, the soul is engaged in meaningful activity.

Many of the people I work with who are in these confused states

are releasing past trauma, detoxing and getting ready for their as-

cent into the spirit realm. We come into the earth life in part, because it provides us with the opportunity for rapid soul growth and expansion. Sometimes we are given another opportunity before we

pass over to accomplish what we have come to this earth to learn

and experience. During the course of our lives we may have pro-

crastinated or postponed our souls “to do” list. Behind what ap-

pears to be fragmented, fantasy and purposeless behavior, the soul

may be completing karma, releasing repressed emotional energy

and revisiting choices and decisions.

This chaotic but meaningful activity serves us in a few ways.

The good that you accomplish in the physical realm is yours for-

ever. Releasing negativity, discharging karmic debt, loving and

forgiving self and others, before you pass into the spiritual realm assure you of a stronger, brighter afterlife. Entering into the spiritual realm as unencumbered and free as possible from unfinished

business allows the soul to ascend into higher vibrations of blissful cosmic love.

158 ~ Alzheimer's, Dementia, Coma's—Repeating Life Lessons
Even if in human terms an individual’s condition appears to be

chaotic, confusing and useless to us busy humans, the soul knows

what it is doing. Trust that there is likely meaningful soulful activity going on within your loved one who is unresponsive or sitting days

upon days looking out the window.

Love Beyond Appearances

The following session is a good example of the soul taking the op-

portunity to participate in a valuable experience before passing

over into the light. Even though an individual’s behavior may ap-

pear to be strange and eccentric, the soul is attracting the condi-

tions for its evolution and healing.

When Andrew came into my office he looked to me, like a typi-

cal scientist. Living in an area of the country where medical and

scientific research is a mainstay, I have bumped into quite a few

scientists and academics. A quiet middle aged man dressed in busi-

ness casual with a pocket protector full of pens in his striped shirt, my guess was right. Although he was a PhD and had been a scientific researcher for many years, he was opened minded and seem

anxious to begin the session.

I said my opening prayer and soon became aware of a woman in

spirit who very much wanted to talk to him.

“There is a woman coming in from spirit who has short grey

hair. She wears glasses and her name may begin with an L. I hear

her say mother. She is waving her hands like she really wants to talk to you.”

“Oh, yes, that is my mother. People called her LeLe, even though

her real name was Pearl.” Andrew confirms.

“She is saying over and over that she is back to her old self. I

get the impression that she had a good sense of humor. I hear her

laughter. She tells me that the confusion has cleared. The light is back on, she says. Did she suffer from dementia before she passed?”

I ask Andrew.

“For many years, she had Alzheimer’s.” He states. “Toward the

end she would call me by her father’s name. She didn’t seem to rec-

ognize me or anyone else for that matter.”

“Well, she is clear headed now.” I tell him. “I see an image of a

bed, like a hospital bed in a small room. I feel like this is a care facil-ity, maybe where she spent some time.”

Andrew seems anxious to explain. “I wanted to let her stay at

home. But, she almost burnt the house down trying to make break-

fast one morning. The fire department was called when a neighbor

saw smoke billowing out of a window. My mother didn’t even no-

tice. I realized I had to keep her safe. Is she upset with me for putting her in a home?”

“That is not the impression I am getting. She tells me that it

was a good place to be. There is something that is funny about this.

I keep hearing laughter. Did she have a male friend there? I think

that this is what she is laughing about.”

“That is funny.” Andrew says. “Please tell me more.”

I send a message to LeLe asking her if she can communicate

more about this to me. I start receiving different images, not all of which make sense.

“I feel like your mother is going back to her childhood. I see a

large home in the country. I feel as if she grew up in the south and I get the impression that this home I see, was in the family for generations. Is this correct?”

Andrew explains. “That sounds like the home she grew up in. It

is no longer in the family. But, yes, many generations lived in that home. I am a bit embarrassed by its history.”

As Andrew says this I get images of an old southern estate. I see

fields with black laborers working hard. I get the impression that
