David couldn’t hide the small fear that swelled through him. Touching on Earth had been forbidden for most of his lifetime. Despite the fact that the lawmakers and enforcers on Earth were no more, the residual feelings remained.

Drew studied him as if he could see the thoughts swirling through David’s head.

“It’ll get easier,” he said. “The important thing to remember is that it’s natural to want to be physically close to a woman you care for. And on this planet there is absolutely nothing wrong with it.”

“Are you sure you’re okay with this?” David asked, glancing out the door to make certain Ally wasn’t within hearing distance. “I have nothing to offer anyone. I don’t even have any marketable job skills on this planet.”

As soon as the words left his mouth, he regretted them instantly. He really didn’t want to talk about some of the work he’d done on Earth to earn enough money to save the few he’d been able to save.

Drew watched him with that same unnerving calmness and for a moment David wanted to confess all. Only the fear that they’d ask him to leave because they didn’t want such a bad influence around Ally or her son kept his mouth closed. He knew he didn’t deserve this chance at happiness, but after everything that had happened in the past few hours he knew he wasn’t a nice enough guy to walk away voluntarily.

It had taken every bit of courage he owned to try and push Ally away at the hospital. The relief he’d felt when Drew and Kallum had intervened and insisted he stay with them had been overwhelming. There was no way he would ever find the strength to try it again.

“Yes, we’re very okay with this,” Drew said, moving closer to stand in front of David. He was almost as tall as David, but judging by the muscles in his arms, very much stronger. The gentle touch against David’s cheek was unexpected, but surprisingly, not unwelcome. “And as for marketable job skills, you have more to offer than you realize. When you’re back to full health Kallum and I have a few friends we can introduce you to. The Royal Guard are always on the lookout for good men and women to join their ranks.”

David nodded, desperately wanting a chance to find a decent job, a way to support himself and Ally and Alex without taking advantage of Drew and Kallum’s generosity. He wanted a chance to do things the right way.

Now, more than ever, he was determined to keep his shady past a secret.

Now that bedtime had finally come, Ally was more nervous than she could ever remember. David had spent most of the afternoon lying down, a clear indication that he wasn’t yet fully recovered from his injuries.

It was strange how much she wanted to share the physical closeness she’d found with Kallum and Drew with David. She couldn’t imagine sharing such intimacy with anyone else, but the need to give David the same happy memories Kallum and Drew had given her was overwhelming. She just hoped that it didn’t make Drew and Kallum feel that she loved them less because of it.

She didn’t. She loved them more now than she had a week ago. The way they’d reacted to David—treating him with respect and welcoming him into their lives—had simply made her love for these two men even stronger.

Ally suspected she still had a lot to learn about relationships, but the one thing she knew for sure was that she loved all three men with the same intensity. A future without all of them was not an option she could bear considering.

“Is Alex asleep?” Kallum asked as he came into the living area and wrapped his arms around her waist.

“Shouldn’t be long,” she said, watching him on the monitor. Her son had spent the afternoon trying to climb all over David. When they’d stopped him from doing that he’d turned his attention to Drew and the two of them had spent several hours playing silly, but surprisingly educational, games. Thankfully they’d also worn her little man out and he was fast falling asleep. Hopefully he would sleep through the night and give the adults in the house a chance to sort through a few things.

“Are you okay?” Kallum asked.

“I feel like I should be asking you that,” Ally said, turning in Kallum’s arms and pressing her face to his heart. “You’ve done so much for me already. Asking another man to live with us seems above and beyond what’s reasonable of a wife to ask.”

“We love you, Ally. We want you to be happy, but it’s not the only reason we invited David into our lives.”

A mixture of relief and confusion swirled through her at that bit of information. “I don’t understand,” she finally confessed.

“David’s a good man and deserves to be happy. Drew and I are very glad that you and David found each other again.”

“Do you mind if I sleep beside him tonight?”

“Sweetheart, it’s what we expect to happen. Hopefully one day soon you two will be able to do more than just sleep.” He kissed her then, his mouth ravaging hers as his cock pressed hard against her hip. “Maybe even one day, he’ll let us watch.” Kallum shivered as Drew came up behind him and put his arms around them both. If Ally knew her almost-husbands as well as she believed, then Drew probably had his hard cock pressed firmly against Kallum’s ass.

“Go spend some time with David,” Drew said as he did something that left Kallum panting. “Unless of course you want to stay and watch.”

She was tempted, very tempted to stay, but if she watched Drew make love to Kallum the way they usually did she’d either beg them to fuck her, too, or be so aroused by the time she climbed into bed with David that she would likely scare the man.

“I love you,” she said to both of them.

“Sweetheart, we will always love you,” Drew said, pulling her closer to press a kiss to her forehead. “Now go spend some time with David while I make certain Kallum gets a good night’s sleep.”

Kallum moaned again, making Ally giggle softly.

“Have fun,” she said. She pressed a kiss to Kallum’s mouth, another to Drew’s, and left the room quickly before she could change her mind.

“I need this ass,” Drew said in a rough voice as he dragged at Kallum’s clothing. Kallum was starting to shake all over. He needed his husband just as desperately. Before he could blink, Drew had him bent facedown over the back of the sofa, his pants around his ankles, his ass in the air.

He gasped when he felt Drew’s lubed cock pressing against his back passage. Clearly his husband had planned this out. His first thrust pushed him to the hilt inside Kallum, his cock throbbing inside him a moment before Drew pulled out and rammed back in again.

Kallum squirmed, his cock trapped between his body and the soft cushion of the sofa as Drew started fucking him hard. Really, really hard. The way they’d both enjoyed before Drew had gotten sick.

“I love you,” Drew said as he leaned farther over him and kissed his neck, his lips nibbling over the sensitive flesh a moment before sucking at the skin, marking him with his husband’s possession.

Overwhelmed with arousal and emotion, Kallum groaned as his own orgasm began, cum bursting from him, coating his stomach and the top of the sofa. Thank the goddess for laser cleaning wands.

Drew rammed home one last time, filling him with his cum, his cock pulsing inside Kallum’s ass as he continued to rock them both against the sofa, holding him tight, reminding him of how much he was truly loved.

“Thank you,” he whispered, finally understanding what Drew had probably known all along. It seemed incredible that his husband could intuit his fear of losing everything when he hadn’t fully acknowledged it himself.

“No matter what happens in the future,” Drew said in a deep, reassuring voice, his hot breath close to Kallum’s ear, “know that you are an incredible man and deserve every bit of happiness life brings.”

“I love you,” Kallum said, unable to force any other words past his throat.

Drew hugged him close. “I love you, too, baby. Give me a moment to clean up here and I’ll meet you in the shower.”

“Okay,” Kallum said, feeling strangely shy. It was kind of ridiculous considering he still had the man’s cock up his ass.

“You okay, Kal?” Drew asked, obviously having noticed Kallum’s strange reaction.

“Never better,” he said honestly, reaching back to touch his husband.

“Perfect.” Drew patted Kallum’s ass quite hard as he withdrew his cock. “Because I have big plans for you tonight. Big plans.”

David heard Ally come into the room and briefly considered pretending to be asleep, but when she stopped hesitantly beside his bed he couldn’t help but open his eyes.

“Everything okay?” he asked, worry slicing through him at the uncertainty on her face.

“I just…don’t know what to do.”

“If
you
don’t know what to do, I think we’re both in trouble,” he said with a grin, trying to lighten the mood a bit. She smiled shyly as he held a hand out for her to take. He understood where her worries were coming from—and he most certainly shared them—but the discussion he’d had with Drew earlier had made a few things clearer in his mind. He wanted the life that Drew had described. He wanted to be whole and happy, and he truly wanted to hold Ally in his arms. “Do you remember the night you went into labor with Alex?”

She raised an eyebrow at him and he laughed softly at her attitude. Silly question. Of course she would remember such a painful, traumatic, and ultimately triumphant part of her life. She’d been so very frightened, both of them uncertain what would happen, overwhelmed with the fear that someone would discover what was going on and they’d be forcibly separated, perhaps even arrested. He’d held her then, offering her comfort, the feeling so natural that at the time it hadn’t even occurred to him that it was against the planet’s laws.

Later he’d worried, but at the time it had felt right.

He leaned forward and pressed a kiss to her hand the way he’d seen both Drew and Kallum do when he’d been in hospital, and then tugged gently as he moved across the mattress to make room.

“For now, just let me hold you. The rest will work itself out.”

Chapter Thirteen

David felt a surge of triumph as he saw the results of his written entry exam. He’d known that, thanks to the past few months of better nutrition and physical exercise, he had a good chance of passing the physical side of the course requirements, but he’d worried about his newly learned language skills. He and Ally had both studied hard to grasp the written version of the Desconian language, but he’d feared his comprehension wouldn’t be good enough to answer the complex questions on the test.

Judging by the grin he got from Jerrod, the man in charge of the Royal Guard, he wasn’t the only one to feel relief. The man had actually offered to try and get approval for him to do the exam in the standard Earth language, but since David’s education on Earth hadn’t been very good either, he’d chosen to work his ass off learning the local language. In the end, if he got a placement in the Royal Guard, it was a definite time advantage to be able to read Desconian without having to run it through a translation matrix first.

Kallum had even insisted on replacing David’s cheap, embedded, government-issue language translator with one that could be switched on and off at will. Learning to read the language had been much easier once he’d been able to hear it spoken.

Ally had shyly asked Kallum for one as well and now he and Ally were both well on their way to speaking, reading, and fully understanding the local language.

“Basic training starts in three days,” Jerrod said as he finally worked his way through the crowded room of hopeful candidates. “I expect to see you there.”

“Yes, sir, I’ll definitely be there,” David said, trying to hide his nervous excitement behind a professional mask. He’d worked so hard to get this far, but a part of him still expected to be turned away.

“You did well. Go home and celebrate with your family.”

“I will,” David said, reaching out to shake Jerrod’s hand. It had seemed such a strange thing to do only a few months ago, but now it felt like the most natural thing in the world. It gave a sense of community and caring that had been missing on Earth. Perhaps if people had been free to express their emotions in a physical way, the people on Earth might not have felt so alone.

It wasn’t wrong for a parent to hug their distressed child, or for a friend to offer a shoulder to cry on, and it certainly wasn’t wrong for a man to make love to his wife…or his husbands.

But David’s past still haunted him. If Drew and Kallum knew the truth about him, would they still want him in their lives? Would they even consider making their arrangement a true Desconian marriage if they knew who he really was deep down? Would they hate him enough to want him to leave? He loved Ally and wanted the best for her. Accepting everything that Kallum and Drew had offered him without confessing his shady past was wrong. He knew that. But he didn’t have the strength to walk away from Ally and Alex even if it was the best thing for them.

Now that he felt an attraction to both Kallum and Drew and wanted more than simple friendship from both men, his guilt was multiplied exponentially.

David glanced up as the very people he’d been thinking about moved into his line of sight.

He could never leave Ally. He wasn’t that strong.
