For a long moment, Raya looked back at him. “Tell me what’s going on,” she said, touching him on the leg. “I want to know.”

“The woman you saw me with at the restaurant was someone I knew. We used to be in a relationship way before I knew who you were. I broke things off with her to go after you and she isn’t happy.”

“What’s her name?”

“Cordelia J’adore.” He hated telling Raya bout his ex-lover, but he had to, for them to have a future. Jax told him to stop flirting and being with other women because his behavior would come back to haunt him and now the day had arrived.

“Wow…that’s a beautiful name. The two of you made a gorgeous couple at the restaurant. I bet you wanted to stay with her until you found out about me. If you want to go back to her I understand, you must have loved her a lot.”

“No,” he vehemently denied. “I wouldn’t have come to you at night in your bedroom if I wanted to be with Cordelia. I was trying to tell you then how much I wanted you.”

His surprise outburst made Raya scoot back from him, but he quickly wrapped his hand around her arm and pulled her back into his space. Like hell he did want Cordelia as his mate. She was just a distraction until he realized how much he craved his own
Unique
woman.

“Are you telling me that you were the voice I heard in my head?” she asked, staring at him. “How could you do that to me? I thought I was losing my mind. I was so scared, it made me think I should go back to the doctor and have my head examined. How do I know you didn’t do it on purpose to get me out of the picture, so you could be with Cordelia?”

Shit. This was going downhill fast and if he wasn’t able to turn things around he was going to lose Raya. He had to make her understand that he was in love with her.

“Listen to me. I didn’t love Cordelia. She never had a chance at winning my heart. I made it very clear to her that we were only living in the moment. I should be ashamed to admit it, but I’m not. She always knew the truth.”

Raya gave him a look of disbelief. “You’re telling me that Cordelia knew the truth about me, so why was she kissing you on our first date? It didn’t look like a kiss from a heartbroken woman, but a female who knew her place was going to be back in your heart and bed. Maybe she has never left it. Did you bring me there to make her jealous?”

He hated that he had to explain himself about Cordelia because he was too stupid to follow the rules of securing a place in his mate’s heart. Everything going on now was his fault entirely.

“She hated that I broke up with her after I found out your true identity. She thought it was beneath me to fall for a human woman instead of being with a true vampire like her.”

“She’s a vampire. I can’t believe all of this. It’s almost too much for any sane person to believe. First, I find out I’m your mate because I was born to be with a real, live vampire. A vampire who dumped his own kind to be with me,” she laughed, but there wasn’t any warmth to it. “I don’t see how you can tell me anything else to shock me now.”

In half anticipation and half dread, Thorsten knew he still had some secrets to tell Raya. The only part that really troubled him was her reaction to what was left. Would she be forgiving or would she tell him to get out of her life? He decided to stop holding back and just jump right in there with the truth.

“Cordelia was the one who hurt you at the park. She warned me I should stop seeing you and if I didn’t she would find a way to take you out of the picture.”

An unwelcome tension stretched over them as Raya eased away and stood up. Wrapping her arms around her waist, she walked around a little ways from the blanket. A cold knot formed in his stomach while he waited for Raya to look at him again.

He couldn’t help but believe the worst, but he was holding out hope that it wouldn’t be as bad as he imagined in his head.

Getting up, Thorsten cleaned up the remains of the picnic before slowly making his way across the grass over to her. He hadn’t brought her out here to ruin their romantic picnic by confessing all of this, but he couldn’t keep hiding it from her any longer.

“Baby, are you okay?” he asked. “Talk to me. Tell me what’s going on in that beautiful head of yours. Can I do anything for you?”

“Yes, you can do something for me,” she answered, spinning around to face him.

Thorsten was enthralled by what he saw shining in Raya’s eyes. A fire burned in there, a passion that had been missing moments ago.

“Anything, I’ll do anything to make you happy. Just name it.”

“I want to know where I can find Cordelia. How dare she come after me because of you! If she thinks I’m weaker than her because I’m not a vampire, let me prove her wrong. She’s sadly mistaken, if she thinks I’m going to allow her to come here and ruin my life out of jealousy.”

A sense of pride filled his heart at how Raya wanted to stand up for herself, but she couldn’t do it against Cordelia. Besides, she wasn’t going to come near his mate again after their last discussion at Club V. She was gone out of their lives for good.

“Darling, calm down. You don’t have anything to worry about,” he insisted. “I’ve already had a talk with her and she won’t bother you again. She clearly understands that you are the woman I want, but most importantly the woman I love with my whole heart.”

Raya’s eyes grew round as saucers as she stared at him. “How can you love me after all of the battles I have put you through?” she questioned softly. “Not that you weren’t the cause of most of them, but still.”

“I can’t lie. You were very challenging to me and for a while there I wasn’t sure if you were worth the hassle. But, I watched you asleep on my chest after our amazing night together and the sight of you captured my heart. I knew then I couldn’t go another day without you.

“I know I might not be the man you wanted to spend the rest of your life with, but give me the chance to prove I can become him and anything else you want, because you are the only one for me.”

All the harmony of the wilderness faded into the background for Thorsten as he held Raya’s misty eyes with his. He didn’t want to make her cry with his words. He wanted to let her know how much she had come to mean to him. He became attracted to the side of her personality that was hard to read. She didn’t make it easy for him to get her into his bed and he respected it more than she would ever know.

“Thorsten, I—”

Placing a finger on her soft lips, he shook his head. He didn’t want her to tell him anything she wasn’t ready for. He could wait until she was good and ready. She shouldn’t have to confess anything out of pressure.

“Don’t,” he said. “I can wait as long as I have to for those words.”

Touching his finger, she moved it off her lips. “I don’t need any more time. I want to tell you. I’ve been denying it since the night we made out in your car because I couldn’t believe it was possible not after all the crazy ups and downs we have been through.

“I shouldn’t be telling you this at all, but you are one of the most frustrating and sexiest men I have ever met in all of my twenty-nine years. So, if I wasn’t already so in love with you I wouldn’t be here with you right now out in the wilderness all alone hoping you would make love to me again.”

Chapter Forty Two

Thorsten stroked Raya’s hair, letting his newfound love spill out and surround her for everything it was worth. He cupped her chin in the palm of his hand, tilting her head back so she couldn’t escape the truth in his eyes.

“Baby, if we make love again, I will have to turn you. I won’t be able to control myself this time. I want you with me at my side forever. I never thought someone could make me change my wicked ways, especially a mortal, but you did without even trying.

“Somehow, you just eased your way in and wrapped your tiny hand around my heart. I want to keep it there. You are my life now and when an Irizarry male finds his mate, it’s more than physical attraction. He wants to keep her safe, well-loved, and secure about her place in his world.

“Nothing about us finding each other has been easy, but I know we are the perfect match. We wouldn’t be pleased with another person in our lives. Raya, I do love you. My God, the feeling is so wonderful it consumes my entire being and hearing you feel the same way only makes it more powerful.”

Lowering his head, he brushed his mouth over Raya’s as he continued to stare into her eyes. “Are you truly ready for this?” Thorsten asked. Once he turned her there would be no going back for either one of them. She would be his for all of eternity.

Touching his face, Raya’s gentle fingers traced his eyebrows, down the side of his cheeks and then over his lips. Her grin made his usually hard heart turn over in response. “I wouldn’t be right here if you haven’t also stolen my heart. Now that I think about it, I should have resisted you more. I mean, you didn’t make any of this easy for me.”

He smiled, loving the fight still there in his mate. “Raya, you weren’t supposed to resist me at all, but you did and now it’s over.”

She sighed, grinning back at him. “Are you telling me you weren’t man enough to handle it or me?”

Thorsten’s eyebrows shot up. “Oh, I think it’s time we stop talking so I can prove how man enough I am for my strong-willed mate,” he said, then pulled her to his body.

He bent his head to run his tongue across her vanilla-scented skin, loving the sweet texture of her body. She cried out softly when the tip of his fangs raked across her skin. Picking Raya up in his arms, he carried her back over to the blanket and laid her down gently.

Moving back, he stared down into her eyes as he looked at her. He knew there would never be another woman for him. She was everything he ever desired and he wasn’t ever going to fail her.

“You are so beautiful,” Thorsten whispered as he started getting undressed. “I still find it so hard to believe that you’re all mine.”

Stripping out of his shirt, he dropped it down into the grass. He wanted to have Raya’s gaze on him, so he could see in her eyes how attractive she found him. She sated his hunger like no one else had ever been able to do.

“Take off that dress,” he said, removing his boots. “I want to see you in the daylight, every glorious inch of you.”

Kneeling on the blanket, Raya grabbed the hem of the hunter green dress, pulled it up her body then over her head. His mouth watered at the sight of her full breasts in the lacy black bra.

“The rest of it…take it off…take it off…now.”

He undid his zipper and pushed his pants along with his underwear, shoving them down his legs. All other thoughts left his mind as she slid the straps of her sexy, flimsy bra down her arms, then removed it from her body.

Her breasts were high, firm, and erotic as they thrust from her body with their hard nipples. His throat worked hard as he fought down the urge to draw the hard peaks into his mouth.

Why hadn’t he noticed before how Raya’s skin was rich and dark like melted chocolate? The sinfulness of her beauty was more breathtaking with the sun shining down on her body. He snapped out of his trance when he noticed her about to remove her matching lacy panties.

“Don’t, I want to take those off you myself.”

Chapter Forty Three

Hearing the roughness in Thorsten’s voice made Raya’s fingers ease away from her underwear. She let them fall against her side as she finally took the time to look at his naked body.

Anytime she saw him clothed she always thought Thorsten was gorgeous and almost too sexy for words. However, none of those occurrences would prepare her for how his body looked naked in the sunlight.

His body was truly a work of art. Nothing about it was lacking in her eyes. Of course, this was only her second time seeing a naked man up this close. The muscles in his washboard stomach were so defined they almost looked unreal. Her hands itched to rake her nails across them.

A lustful passion invaded her body as her gaze traveled down his powerful thighs and landed on his beautiful cock. It was slightly curved and oh so thick with a large mushroom head with a drop of pre-cum on the tip. She couldn’t take her eyes off his magnificently male body. She was so happy it was all hers.

She watched as Thorsten kept moving towards her until he was almost on top of her body. Dropping to his knees, he spread her thighs apart and eased his large hands underneath her hips before slowly slipping her panties past her butt and down her thighs, then off her body.

Holding them to his nose, Thorsten took a long whiff then pitched them down on the pile of clothing. “Fuck, your pussy smells good,” he groaned as he moved her legs even further apart.

He didn’t give her time to prepare before his mouth was between her legs, licking, eating, and stroking like he couldn’t get enough of her.

“Oh, my….” Raya panted when he worked one of his thick fingers inside of her tight pussy, then another and another until her orgasm hit her hard and fast.

Her cries of release echoed through the forest as she felt the sting of Thorsten’s fangs on her inner thigh, but she was too far gone to care. Minutes seemed to roll by like a train racing down and over railroad tracks as she slowly became aware of her surroundings again. Raya took slow, deep breaths as Thorsten slipped his large body between her thighs.

Linking their fingers together, he pulled them above her head as he eased the tip of his thick cock into her wet pussy. The feel of him inside of her body was even better than the first time. It felt right, almost like this was the moment for which she had been living her entire life.

“Raya, are you ready for this…for me?” Thorsten asked, his voice dark and hypotonic with need.

“Yes,” she answered, staring into his eyes.

His mouth moved over her, drawing her into an erotic ecstasy that she hadn’t experienced before. Raising his head, Thorsten’s dark blue eyes watched her closely as he thrust his cock deeper into her body. The thickness of his erection filled her completely, fully making her want him for a lifetime.

“You are mine…only mine. You will belong to me forever,” he said, driving his cock in and out of her pussy.

Desire licked over her sweaty body, along her skin as his thrust became more and more powerful, deeper. He let go of her hands then, dragged her against him even tighter. He drove into her harder until it felt like the tip of his cock was touching her womb.
