Epilogue

Weston Cole Haywood looked pretty cute snuggled in his uncle Levi’s arms, if Carrie said so herself. Birdie only added to the cuteness factor by reaching up to fuss over her six-month-old baby brother and beg Levi to hand him over. Without missing a beat, Carrie tapped Birdie on the shoulder and handed her the leash for one wiggling Bo, who was more than happy to kiss the little girl’s face until she fell on the ground in a fit of giggles.

Around them, Maeve and Jim, Sophie with her beautiful pregnant belly, holding Tucker’s hand, and friends and family had gathered for the groundbreaking of the therapeutic riding center, which would be built right there at Agate Falls and welcome therapists and clients in the spring. Funding had been secured, the plans finalized—which included the sunflower stained glass panel she’d found and repaired being inset into the front door. Levi was the primary investor and manager. He’d been splitting his time between the ranches, though each week seemed to find him at Agate Falls more, where they’d settled in. Carrie wasn’t complaining.

Though they’d sold off more stock to help balance the books, the cash Levi had invested in the place, plus his management help, was turning things around. Taking a place at Levi’s side, Carrie reached for the baby and simply watched as Cole said a few words about the therapy center to the crowd. This was good. It was all amazingly good. She was secure, surrounded by love, and the inevitability of her changing sight wasn’t as terrifying as it was before.

Levi had made sure of that. Pushy, stubborn man that he was. She looped her arm through his and tipped her chin up for his kiss. She’d never had a chance against him in the first place.

No woman in her right mind could resist a cowboy.
