Chapter
Seventeen

Cameryn’s mind barely registered that she and Hades were no longer in the dining room. As Hades rose above her reaching for her leg, she felt like she was primed to explode. She gasped as he reached underneath her dress and pulled down her lacy red thong. The cool air hit her womanhood shocking her. Hades pushed the dress up around her hips, but she grew impatient. Grabbing his shirt in her hands, she pulled with all her strength. Buttons flew everywhere, and Hades’s skin was finally bared to her gaze. Leaning up to kiss his chest, her body shuddered when his fingers found her weeping core. Every stroke of his finger in and out made her crazy.

“Hades
… Oh Hades.”

“You are so beautiful
, beloved,” Hades said looking at her with absolute adoration.

He leaned down and kissed her hungrily as he continued working his finger inside her hot core at the same time. Cameryn’s legs opened wider
, and her pelvis arched against his hand.

“I need you now.”

“Not yet, my heart.”

“Now!” Cameryn yelled reaching for Hades’
s pants.

In less than a minute he was free from the confines of his clothing. His manhood sprang up hard and ready in her hand. She marveled at the length and thickness of him. She’d never seen a man so damn gifted. Cameryn licked her lips in anticipation. Hades could do this love play some other time. Right now she had a need that couldn’t wait. Before he could stop her, Cameryn flipped Hades underneath her so that she was on top and straddling him.

“We can make love some other time. Right now I want to ride you,” Cameryn said before impaling herself on Hades.

She cried out at the fullness of him. She felt stretched to the hilt already
, and the length of him just kept going.

“That’s enough
, Cameryn. You’re going to hurt yourself,” Hades said in a strangled tone.

“I want all of you,” Cameryn said sliding until he was completely buried inside her.

Her thighs shuddered as her body adjusted to his fullness. She moved tentatively, and the friction of pleasure made her groan. She was going to ride him like a stallion. Pushing against Hades’s chest, she slowly rose of the length of him before slamming back down hard. It felt so good. Her body screamed a silent yes as Hades’s hands circled her waist helping to lift and lower her onto his massive length. Their bodies were already attuned to one another. Cameryn could smell the spicy scent of their passion as she rode

him harder and harder. Beneath her
, a bead of sweat was forming on Hades’s brow as he lifted and lowered her while thrusting up hard at the same time. Cameryn was so close. She could feel her body starting to tense in anticipation.

As she slid down the length of him again, she clinched her vaginal muscles tight and came hard crying out. Her head felt like it was going to explode from her chest. Fireworks were going off between her legs. Shaken, Cameryn fell onto Hades’
s chest exhausted. Her mind barely registered his hands digging into her sides with enough force to leave bruises. His loud shout in her ear confirmed that his own release had been just as earth shattering as her own.

And to think that was only a quickie.

“You are too spectacular for words,” Hades said as he wrapped his arms around her, still joined together.

“Yeah. I don’t think I was too bad either,” Cameryn managed to get out before sleep claimed her.

“So do we have a deal?” Persephone asked.

“What you’re asking for is a lot, Persephone.”

“Dear sweet Apollo, it’s nothing you can’t handle. It is your area of expertise.”

“But there could be repercussions,” Apollo said.

“Like what?”

“Sometimes things happen that you neither expected nor planned.”

“Don’t give me that mumbo jumbo. If the time comes that I need to call on you, can I trust you to do what I’ve asked?” Persephone said.

“What’s in it for me?”

Persephone smiled. Typical male. It was always about them and what they wanted. Fortunately for her they all wanted the same thing.

“Quite a bit. Not only will you be seen as the all loving son ready to protect his family at all costs, but you also get me. I think that’s more than enough to seal the deal.”

Apollo was silent as he thought over her offer. Persephone watched him expectantly. He’d be a fool to turn her down.

“We have a deal
, my lovely goddess.”

“Perfect. Now why don’t we make it official?” Persephone asked rising.

She stood in front of Apollo and removed her dress. The God of Light, Prophecy, and Music whistled appreciatively at her nakedness. She preened like a peacock before straddling his lap. She laughed inside as his hands caressed her breasts. Just like always, she’d gotten exactly what she wanted.

Cameryn didn’t know how long she’d been asleep when she woke up still joined with Hades. Her eyes opened
, and her very wanton behavior played like a movie in her mind.

I attacked him! I ripped off his clothes and rode him like I was some bitch in heat. What the hell is wrong with me? I never ever, ever in a million years would be bold enough to do something like that.

It had been a terrible mistake for her to go to bed with him now. They’d both agreed to take things slow
, and she’d messed that up by jumping his bones. She felt like a slut. Gingerly Cameryn tried to disengage herself from Hades.

“Don’t move. You feel so good,” he murmured in her hair.

“I have to.”

“Why?”

“This wasn’t supposed to happen. At least not right now it wasn’t.”

Hades’
s arms released her, and she scrambled off him until she was sitting beside him on the bed. She pulled her dress down around her legs. Beside her Hades sat up righting his attire.

“Talk to me
, Cam. Tell me what’s wrong,” he said cupping her chin, forcing her to look at him.

“I’m not ready to be intimate with you again,” she said quietly.

“I don’t understand. We just were intimate, and we couldn’t get enough of each other.”

“I know
, and I know this sounds crazy, but I felt like I had to have sex with you. Like I would die if I didn’t have you. It was almost as if my body wasn’t my own.” Cameryn struggled to explain.

Beside her, Hades frowned. He was quiet a moment before he spoke.

“Cameryn, did you notice anything unusual after I brought you back to the palace?” Hades asked.

“No. Not really, except
… forget it.”

“Tell me. Whatever it is.”

“Well when Tara came to help me dress, she seemed different. Her aura was off.”

“That meddlesome little…” Hades said clenching his fists.

“What is it? What’s wrong?”

“Cameryn, that wasn’t Tara who came in to help you dress. It was Aphrodite in disguise.”

“The Goddess of Love? Why would she be here?”

“To put a lust spell on you.”

“A lust spell? How exactly does that work?”

“It makes you lose all your inhibitions. It makes you do things you normally wouldn’t do. You may already be attracted to someone, but when the lust spell gets a hold of you, you are no longer in control of yourself,” Hades said.

“So that’s why I attacked you. I can assure you, what just happened is not something I would ever be brave enough to do on my own.”

“I can’t believe I didn’t pick up on her handiwork, but then you looked so beautiful and alluring and you wanted me and I was tired of denying the desire I have for you.”

“This isn’t your fault at all. Aphrodite manipulated both of us.”

“She’s going to pay for meddling.”

“Well she must have had a good reason. I don’t agree with her methods, but I can see she wants us to be together. After all, love is her job.”

“But love should happen on its own, not through manipulation.”

“I agree.”

“So what now?” Hades asked.

“Right now I just want to go back to sleep. We’ll figure everything else out in the morning,” Cameryn said lying down.

Next to her, Hades did the same. As he made the lights grow dimmer, Cameryn moved closer to him.

“Hold me?” she asked

“For as long as you desire,” Hades said opening his arms and pulling her to him.

Her head settled on his chest. Soon Cameryn felt herself drifting off to sleep again with a smile on her face. Hades could’ve been angry with her for having regrets about that they’d done. But instead he accepted that she needed more time until she was ready to give herself to him. What had she done to deserve such an amazing man?

Chapter
Eighteen

Three months had passed since Hades had brought Cameryn to the Underworld. Over the past two months they’d been almost inseparable. In the process they’d grown even closer. When Cameryn looked into Hades’s eyes she could see the love that he had for her, and slowly but surely, she was starting to fear it less and less. In her heart she was ready to accept that he loved her with no strings attached. The feeling was liberating. Even her initial reticence about being in the Underworld was fading. In fact, she was starting to realize that she actually might belong in the Underworld with Hades.

Death and strangeness had always been a part of her life. Here, she no longer felt strange. Here, it was as if she was the missing piece of the puzzle. Everyone treated her with such deference. When she’d gone on her own to watch Minos, Rhadamanthus, and Aeacus judge souls, they’d quickly invited her to join them in passing judgment. She’s been apprehensive at first, but eventually she’d decided the fates of a few souls. The three men had been impressed with her decisions and told Hades. That night he’d given her a beautiful black obsidian necklace
, and they’d danced underneath the stars. The God of the Underworld certainly knew a thing or two about romance.

With Hades there was always some new surprise. As each day passed she found herself considering becoming his wife and remaining with him in the Underworld. There was no question that he loved her. He practically worshipped the ground she walked on. The more time she spent with him the more she wanted to. And he’d been so patient. It
probably would’ve driven any other man crazy that they weren’t having sex, but Hades was patient to a fault. Ever since Aphrodite had worked her magic on Cameryn he’d done his best to keep his distance from her sexually. Cameryn knew that was a challenge for both of them. Despite their efforts to just enjoy each other’s company, the sexual chemistry between them was undeniable. On more than one occasion she’d found herself almost mesmerized by Hades’s dark beauty. The way his eyes sparkled when he said her name. The smile that lit up his face when she entered the room. Or the way he moved when he walked. Powerful. Confident. Strong. Sexy. Cameryn fanned herself.

They may have been abstaining from sex
, but Cameryn’s body was primed and ready for action. She knew it was the same way for Hades. Many times she’d caught him sneaking a glance at her backside or her breasts. It was a heady feeling to have someone want you so much. When she and Hades finally came together it was going to be explosive. Smiling to herself she continued her walk outside the palace. She was surprised Hades hadn’t joined her. He must be busy, but that didn’t stop her from missing him. She soon found herself at what used to be Persephone’s Grove.

Bending down she picked up a smooth black stone. She watched riveted as the rock changed to a black glass flower in her hand.
What in the hell?
She looked around frantically. There was no one here but her.
How in the hell did I do that?

“Power is a funny thing
, isn’t it?” a woman’s voice said from behind her.

Cameryn spun around. The woman behind her was a regal looking brunette. A gold and gem crusted crown adorned her upswept hair. Her eyes were the strangest Cameryn had ever seen. They changed from purple to blue to green every few seconds. She tore her gaze away. Her visitor was dressed in a green wrap dress adorned with peacocks. While the woman was by no means a conventional beauty, there was something arresting about her. Cameryn could feel the waves of power emanating from the woman.

I am so fucked if she’s here to hurt me.

“Who are you?” Cameryn
asked, body tensing.

“I’m Hera, Queen of the Gods.”

Cameryn stood mute. Hera, the much betrayed wife of Zeus. Even more famously known for persecuting Hercules. Cameryn wasn’t sure how to react.

“There’s no need to be afraid
, my dear. I haven’t come to hurt you,” Hera said taking a few steps closer.

“Then why the surprise visit
, sister?” Hades asked appearing next to Cameryn.

Unconsciously Cameryn sought the comfort of Hades’
s embrace. He pulled her into his arms as Cameryn continued to watch Hera.

“Now is that any way to greet your sister whom you never see?” Hera
told Hades.

“I meant no disrespect, sister. It is great to see that you are well. I only wonder about your intentions towards Cameryn,” Hades said evenly.

“I swear to you on the River Styx I will not harm her. I simply wanted a chance to talk to the woman that has all of Olympus abuzz,” Hera said.

In Hades’s arms, Cameryn felt his body relax. Apparently Hera’s response had mollified him. Cameryn, too, relaxed. She knew how serious swearing on the River Styx was for a god or a goddess.

“Very well
, sister. I will give you two some time alone,” Hades said to Hera before turning back to Cameryn. “I’ll be nearby if you need me.”

Hades pressed a quick kiss to her lips before disappearing. She turned her attention back to Hera.

“Did you create this flower?” Cameryn asked.

“No
, my dear. That was all you. It seems that you are still unaware of your unique heritage, but I’m sure that in time you will discover it.”

“What heritage?” Cameryn
said.

“It’s not important. What is important is that the rumors were true for once. My brother i
s completely smitten with you.”

“Hades is a wonderful man.”

“Indeed he is, which makes me wonder exactly what your feelings for him are. He doesn’t deserve to be hurt again. Persephone took him through enough,” Hera said icily.

“I care a great deal for Hades. He’s caring, patient
, and I know he cares very deeply for me. I would never want to do anything to hurt him,” Cameryn said earnestly.

The two of them were quiet for a moment. Cameryn felt Hera studying her, judging her worth.

“There is no deceit in you. Your feelings for my brother are true. They are also a lot deeper than you are ready to admit. You would be a fitting queen for him.”

Cameryn was dumbfounded. The Queen of the Gods thought she was a good match for Hades. That was not a bad endorsement considering Hera was also the Goddess of Marriage.

“Thank you.”

“No thanks necessary
, dear. It’s simply refreshing to meet a woman of character who has my brother’s best interests at heart.”

“I take it you’re not a fan of Persephone’s?”

“Hardly. She’s a spoiled little bitch who thinks the world revolves around her.”

“I will agree with you on that, but you know when she showed up here still wanting Hades, part of me couldn’t help but think that I should have stepped aside and given them their second chance,” Cameryn said.

“Don’t. She means him nothing but harm. She will only hurt him again
, and I will never bestow my blessing on their union.”

“I just wanted to be sure I was doing the right thing.”

“You are. You and Hades make a lovely couple. It’s like the two of you were made for each other. It warms my heart to see the two of you together. It reminds me of when Zeus and I first fell in love.”

Cameryn was silent as Hera got a faraway look in her eyes. Finally her curiosity got the best of her.

“Are all the legends about Zeus being less than faithful true?” Cameryn asked gulping nervously.

“Unfortunately yes,” Hera said eyes flashing.

“Then why do you stay with him? It has to be beyond painful, especially when you are always the faithful and devoted wife.”

“My relationship with Zeus is complicated. I love him beyond reason despite his philandering. I know that no matter how many mortals, demigoddesses
, or goddesses catch his attention, it is only fleeting. In the end he will always return to me because there is no other woman who is his equal.”

While
Cameryn personally didn’t agree with it, Hera’s reasoning did make sense. Monogamy probably could get boring after countless centuries. Hell, these days after a few weeks people started cheating on their mates. Cameryn felt her heart race at the thought of Hades ever being unfaithful to her.
He would be the first god to die because I’d kill him.

“You don’t have to worry about that with Hades. There’s not an unfaithful bone in his body,” Hera
told her.

“That’s good to know because I wouldn’t have your grace and understanding. I’d hurt him bad,” Cameryn
said.

“You have a warrior’s spirit. Now
, my dear, I’ve taken up enough of your time, so I’ll take my leave.”

“Wait
, Your Majesty. Before you go, were the legends right when they talked about all the things you did to Hercules?”

Hera’s eyes flashed black with annoyance
, and Cameryn feared she’d trodden too far. She gulped nervously.

“Yes. It was not one of the finest times in my life. Hercules’s mother, Alcmene, was different from Zeus’s usual affairs. She’d rebuffed his advances, so he took on the form of her husband to get her with child. I hated her for her purity, for being so good. I hated Hercules, too, because he was beyond good. He had the best qualities of both Zeus and his mother. Everyone who met him loved him. It ate at my heart to see Zeus take so much pride in him while neglecting our children. Hercules did nothing to deserve my wrath. When he died I vowed to put away my hate and try to make amends. I gave my daughter Hebe to him as wife, and now he is the patron God of Heroes. Anything else?”

“No
, Your Majesty.”

“Very well. I’ll be seeing you
, my dear,” Hera said before disappearing in a blinding flash of light.

Cameryn heard Hades coming behind her. She turned to face him.

“Are you all right?” Hades asked, concern etching his face.

“I’m fine. I promise.”

“What did she want?”

“Believe it or not, once I stopped being terrified it was kind of sweet. She wanted to know what my intentions were with you.”

“Hera?” Hades asked in disbelief.

“Yes. Apparently rumor has it that you’re madly in love with me. She just wanted to make sure I wasn’t taking advantage of you.”

“It’s not a rumor. I am madly in love with you,” Hades said cupping her chin.

“That’s wonderful to know,” Cameryn said before kissing him.

She could feel the sparks between them as they kissed. Her mouth opened to Hades allowing him to plunder her sweet depths. Already Cameryn could feel herself growing breathless. Her arms twined around his neck bringing him closer.

“Cameryn, we have to stop, or I won’t be able to,” Hades said gently pushing her away.

She pouted but obeyed.

“Well just so you know, Hera did say that I would make a worthy Queen for you.”

“On that we agree. I must admit that I’m still surprised about her showing up here. I would’ve expected Demeter to give you the third degree, not Hera.”

“Your sister loves you, and she only wants the best for you.”

“You are the best. There’s no one above you
, Cameryn,” Hades said staring at her earnestly.

“I swear I get butterflies every time you say something sweet to me.”

“Glad to know that I have that effect on you. Did you and Hera talk about anything else?”

“I asked her how she could stay married to Zeus.”

“You are a brave soul. I don’t think anyone has ever had the gumption to ask her that, gods included.”

“I was curious, and though I guess her explanation makes sense in your world, no one deserves to have an unfaithful spouse.”

“You are so right, beloved. Your compassion for others always touches me.”

“There you go again with the flattery. Oh
, and we also talked about Hercules.”

“Hercules? Cameryn
, were you deliberately trying to piss off my sister?”

“No. I just wanted to know if that part of the legends was true. I honestly think she was more annoyed about that than my question about Zeus.”

“If anyone else had asked her the things you did, they’d probably be in a world of hurt right now,” Hades said seriously.

“Well since she seemed to like me I thought I’d take my chances and ask. Besides I loved
Hercules: the Legendary Journeys
when it was on TV. I just wanted to know if it was all true or not and if he got a happy ending after everything he went through.”

“And are you satisfied now?” Hades asked grinning.

“Almost.”

“Almost? What else could you want to know?”

“Does Hercules look anything like Kevin Sorbo, the actor who played him?” Cameryn asked wide eyed.

For a moment Hades was silent. Then he spoke.

“Exactly like him.”

Cameryn couldn’t help the awestruck smile that came to her face.

“But don’t get any ideas. I’m a very jealous god
, and nephew or not I will kick his ass if he even looks in your direction or you look in his,” Hades said before grabbing her arm and leading her back to the palace.
