“I mean this place is hardly child friendly, glass tables, no garden, pollution, not healthy for me, and certainly not for little Kacey,” he stipulated as he glanced around the lounge. He gazed into the pram seeing Kacey sleeping. Just seeing her so cute with her dark hair, pouting her lips, when he saw her sucking her thumb.

“Is that a new trick of hers?” He chuckled.

“Yes, I refuse to give her a dummy,” Sophie replied.

“So, how come you are here? You could have called me,” he thought to mention.

“I wanted to tell you to your face.”

“Tell me what?”

“What I have asked,” she spoke back.

He feathered his brows not having a clue what she was talking about.

“Okay…have I passed or sunk bad?” he asked vigilant, needing the moment to be serious as otherwise his heart would explode. Surely, she was here because she loved him, why else would anyone travel all that distance with a small baby to London?

Sophie turned to look at him, grinning. She spun around and walked away from him.

He had no idea what that meant, whether he still needed to try harder to past the damn test and he would do whatever means to do so.

“Could I take a shower and pinch a T-shirt of yours?” she asked him while stood in the doorway.

“Of course…”

Calvin rushed passed her showing her the way into his bedroom. He entered his closet and picked out a T-shirt followed by getting some clean fresh bath towels placing them in his en-suite. Sophie was right behind him watching him preform like a total head case. He really needed her to explain what on earth was going on. He needed to hear what she was thinking and whether he could rectify anything, as he would with immediate effect.

“Do you need anything else?” he queried glancing anxiously at her.
God she looks incredible. God I love her more than anything!
He coughed clearing his throat. “If you need anything just help yourself, I have track-suit bottoms on the shelf or whatever…I guess by what you brought you never packed some of your belongings?”

“No, brought what I had in Dad’s car. Kacey’s okay, just not Mum.” She giggled.

“Oh well, at least Kacey is okay.” He chuckled back.

He grinned at her while carefully trying not to touch her as he passed, there was not much room. His heart skipped about in his chest. He smiled with adoration at her as she did back.

He left her to shower and do what she wished. His heart pounded in his chest, needing her urgently to tell him what she was thinking. He couldn’t try any harder if he tried at convincing her. Calvin scratched his face and rubbed the back of his neck. His skin was tight, betting it was the stress, hoping he wouldn’t screw up, somehow. His nerves were a bundle of mess and he had to try. He had to try and calm down before he shattered into tiny pieces.

Calvin walked back into the lounge, to gaze over at the pram. Slowly, he walked over to the pram to stare down at Kacey, seeing the most precious child in the world, when he thinks how close Sophie came to losing her. How he came close to losing them both. Tears filled his eyes to the pain that might have been, lost forever with grief. Life had a funny way of showing us our paths in life, but Sophie and Kacey were the best lives that entered his.

He moved closer to the pram, sitting on the sofa watching TV, trying to not think about Sophie naked in his shower. He had visions of the water dancing over her delicious contours. His manhood twitched to the thought.

“No, none of that…we aren’t going to do any of that naughty…even if I would love nothing more than to make love to her.”

He glanced at the open lounge door wondering when Sophie would appear. He inhaled a deep breath, his heart chiming to her, betting their hearts were beating at the same tone.

He put the music channel on and sat listening, trying his hardest to relax when Kacey started fidgeting and cooing, adding a gargling and suddenly burst into a cry. Calvin stood and saw Kacey kicking and waving her arms around, her tiny little face scrunched up, wondering if she needed her nappy changing or whether she was hungry, but it hadn’t been long since Sophie fed her…however, he wasn’t all too sure how often she was fed.

Regardless, Calvin with the greatest of care, tucked his large hand under her head and the other under her bottom to carefully lift her out the pram.

“Hey, little lady,” he cooed. With great care he placed her into his chest and started rocking back and forth, trying to calm her down. “Mummy, will be back in a few minutes and she will feed you or change your nappy and make you feel extra special, because you are a very special baby,” he said standing and shifting his weight from one foot to the other. Then he felt an explosion in her nappy. “Oh dear…I think you have pooped, either that or bad wind, young lady.” He chuckled.

“Right then, Kacey, I have never changed a nappy in my entire life, so…I’m going to give it a whirl and hopefully I get it right,” he mocked holding Kacey carefully. He kneeled down to the changing bag underneath the pram. He reached inside the bag getting the nappy. He moved to a wide space on the lounge floor and placed Kacey on the floor. She looked at Calvin kicking and waving her arms, while gargling. He kneeled at her feet. He looked at her smiling, knowing this was his life he craved. He reached for the changing bag needing it from underneath the pram. Success! He smiled at Kacey, widening his eyes and tickling her tummy.

“Right, what tricks has Mummy got in here?”

“Ah, look…we have…” He pulled out a plastic folded mat thing. “Is that the changing mat?” he asked Kacey, as she had quietened down appearing to be staring at him with her beautiful brown eyes. He unfolded the mat guessing it was…he had a vague idea with one of his work colleagues when she brought her baby in due to the babysitter taking ill. He watched her for a brief second changing the baby. He peered back in the bag. “Ah, baby wipes, I think we might need those.” He sniggered at Kacey, with her kicking, waving her arms, and cooing.

“Ah…what on earth is that?” he inquired and tried figuring it out and found it was a bag. “Ah to put the dirty nappy in. See I’m sussing you little creatures out.” He pulled out several outfits and a breast pump. “Erm I don’t think that is any use to me!” He chuckled and Kacey flung her arms and legs around. He paused and watched her for a few seconds, excited. He flicked his brows, before returning to the changing bag and pulled out cotton wool. “Flipping heck, you babies need loads of stuff, no wonder mummies are always skint,” he scoffed.

“Right,” he indicated ready to go in. He joined his fingers together hearing them click. “I’m preparing to go in, do I need gloves or an apron,” he mocked.

He placed Kacey on the changing mat and started undoing her press studs to her romper suit, and peeled the garment away, revealing her tiny little feet. “How cute.” He smiled. He undid the press-studs to her vest. The nappy was in his sight and he saw the sticky tape holding the nappy on. “Right,” he said, picking up the fresh nappy and opened it up trying to figure out which way it went, tipping it upside down and then back the other way. He attempted to figure out where the sticky tape were on the one she was already wearing, and guessed it.

He got the wipes ready and peeled the nappy off and she had pooped,
no wonder the poor kid was crying…ewwww!
The smell was nasty, wondering if he needed to invest in some pegs to hold his nose together, but either way she needed changing. He peeled the nappy away he got a few wipes and started cleaning her tiny little bottom. Once clean he slide the clean nappy under her bottom and got the sticky tape peeled away to stick. The nappy was on, he felt like he had won the world.

Calvin slipped her feet back into the romper suit and did the press studs up. Wow he felt a great sense of achievement. The nappy went in the bag and he tied it, concealing the bad smell. Calvin carefully picked Kacey up and carried her to the kitchen where he dispersed of the nappy.

“Well, that wasn’t too bad, easy peesy, lemon squeesy.” He chuckled.

He walked back into the lounge to sit on the sofa, getting comfortable while nursing Kacey in his arm, when he could hear her sucking on her thumb sounding so cute. He watched the screen wondering where on earth Sophie had disappeared too, but he bet she was shattered and needed a little me time.

Sophie made her way through to the lounge finding Calvin nursing her daughter in his arm, hearing the sound of her cooing while he watched the TV while he played with her hand, looking so adorable. That was the reason she wanted a shower so she could see how he would be around her daughter. Calvin was not her dad and she had to test him to see how he would be with Kacey, a little mean, but at the end of the day, it was her daughter who was important, she had to make sure she would be treated well.

She saw the changing bag had been used, changing mat, nappies, Kacey’s clothes scattered on the floor, wipes and cotton wool. Her heart stopped for a brief second wondering if he had managed to change her which she never expected him to do, but it appeared he had, warming her heart even more.

“Have you been busy?” she asked entering the room.

Calvin turned his head to peer at her.

“We sure have…pooed nappy, but we dealt with it, it was a mission impossible task,” he scoffed. “She was crying so I…I hope you didn’t mind did you?” he asked concerned.

“No, not at all, I’m pleased you changed her.” She giggled. She sat in a chair not far from him and turned her body to face them both. She could see Kacey had a firm grip of his finger as she kicked legs and gargled.

“I have never changed a nappy before, so was a new experience for me.” He laughed.

“Well, I’m glad you attempted it,” she said. Her stomach somersaulted. She just took a few moments to watch her daughter with the man she was considering to spend the rest of her life with. How she loved him. How she wished for nothing more than to spend her day with him enjoying and arguing, the making up would be the fun part. She hitched her breath, loving the fact Calvin talked to her daughter while Kacey stared at him, she smiled. A cherished moment for her the deciding point.

She yawned, shattered really needing to get some sleep. The train journey had tired her greatly.

“I’m going to feed her and afterwards head to bed, if that is okay?” she asked him.

“Of course. I will go and check on the guest bedroom, I think I put fresh sheets on it,” he mentioned.

She leaned into him taking Kacey from his arm placing her into the pram. She followed him out the lounge into the entrance hall and into the guest room, the black and white room she’d seen earlier. She watched him peel back the duvet,

“Yep, I did, but I can always get you clean…”

“No, it’s fine, thank you. Great room,” she indicated.

“Good, if you need anything, just help yourself,” he informed her.

He grinned at her when she noticed him glancing at her lower figure wearing his trunks and a T-shirt showing off the tops of her thighs.

“I will thank you.”

“How long you planning on staying?” he asked observing him glancing at her chest.

“Not sure, how long would you like me?” she questioned back seeing he’s distracted.

“Sorry.” He lifted his head to gaze at her face.

Sophie wanted to come out with something sarcastic, but she was with Calvin, and she loved him, not wishing to upset him, especially as she could see he was deep in thought.

“How long would you like us to stay?” she repeated.

“Forever,” he sassed. He made his way toward her. He stopped alongside her. “You can stay in my heart as long as you wish, there is no time limit, ever!”

She stood dumb folded whilst he stared into her eyes. Without a word passing their lips he spun around and left the room. Sophie stood, mouth dropped with her heart beating overtime. She felt a bad urge come over her, one of the sexual kind, a pulse down below, a sensation she’d hadn’t had for quite a while. Her heart so close to jumping out her chest, longing for nothing more than to give chase after him.

Bile filled her throat, anxious craving to hold him tight, however first she needed to give him answers. She knew that it would only be fair she gave him some.

Sophie quickly raced after him finding him in the kitchen making himself a drink. She stopped to drink him for a split second, breathless, anxious. He looked like a man with a million things on his mind. He didn’t even hear her enter the room. Scared she changed her mind going to the lounge to check on Kacey in her pram. Her daughter was fine. Fast asleep.

She sucked in a deep breath. Her tummy riddled in knots, bile filled her throat. Heart racing she had to gain the courage, she wanted to go and talk to him, let alone express her love for him.

Sophie sat on the sofa, holding her head in her hands trying to be brave. She had to do this, time was precious as he was at work tomorrow. Why torture Calvin more than she already had over the months since them coming across one another.

She walked into the kitchen to find him still gazing into thin air.

“Penny for them?” she heartedly asked, leaning against the door frame.

Calvin jumped dropping whatever had been in his hand and held his chest.

“Sorry I didn’t mean to startle you.” She took a few steps closer to him.
