BODY OF BAG

Cast on 70 sts with 2 strands of navy yarn and size 13 needle. Knit 8 sts, place marker. Knit 54 sts, place marker, knit 8 sts.

Keeping the first and last 8 sts in garter, proceed in stockinette on the middle 54 sts until piece measures 14".

Bind off 8 sts at beginning of next 2 rows.

Work in stockinette for 5".

Cast on 8 sts at beginning of next 2 rows. Proceed as before until piece measures 14” from the cast–on row of 8 sts.

Bind off loosely.

FLAP

With double green yarn pick up and knit 53 sts on the center sts of the cast–on row.

Decrease 1 st each end of every other row 9x. Work until flap measures 5½". Bind off remaining 35 sts.

CHANGING PAD

With size 13 needle and 2 strands of yarn in navy cast on 110 stitches. Proceed as follows:

ROW 1:
Knit 33 sts, slip 1 st, K36, slip 1 st, K39.

ROW 2:
Purl all stitches. Repeat rows 1 and 2 until piece measures 17". Bind off loosely.

TAB

Make 2 pieces alike.

With size 10 needles and double yarn in green cast on 8 sts. Knit in garter for 4½
“.
Bind off loosely.

 

POCKET

With size 13 needles and double yarn in green cast on 56 sts.

Work in garter for 2 rows.

Proceed as follows:

K5, slip 1 st, K44, slip 1 st, K5.

Keeping the first and last 4 sts in garter, proceed in stockinette until piece measures 1½",∗∗ then continue in garter on all sts for 6 rows.

Bind off loosely.

HANDLE

With size 10 needles cast on 12 sts in blue and 13 sts in green.
ROW 1:
Knit in garter as follows: K12, slip 1 st, K12.
ROW 2:
Knit across.

Repeat rows 1 and 2 until piece measures 29". Bind off loosely.

SIDE POCKETS

Make 2 pieces alike.

Cast on 23 sts.

ROW 1:
K4, slip 1 st, K13, slip 1 st, K4.

Keeping the first and last 4 sts in garter, continue on the center 13 sts in stockinette until pockets measure 8½
“,
then knit 6 rows in garter.

Bind off loosely.

FINISHING

Sew pockets, fold handle in half, sew together.

Sew zipper to the outside front of bag and the bottom of changing pad.

Sew tabs.

Line bag and pad with washable vinyl. I suggest purchasing a colorful vinyl outdoor tablecloth.

Yarn is used double throughout.

With 2 strands of raffia cast on 48 sts.

Work the same for front and back.

Proceed as follows:

ROW 1 (WS):
Purl.

ROW 2 (RS):
Knit.

ROW 3:
Purl.

ROW 4:
∗ K2tog through back loop 2x, YO K1, 4x, K2tog through back loop 2x ∗ Repeat to end.

Repeat rows 1 through 4 for pattern until piece measures 12” or desired length.

Knit in stockinette for 1". Purl 1 row on right side. Knit in stockinette for 1". This is the part to be folded over the bamboo handles.

Bottom crochet shell: Double crochet in the same st, 6x, 2 sc, sc in next 2 sts ∗ (∗ repeat to end.)

FINISHING

Sew pieces together. Lining optional.

Bind off loosely in pattern.

FINISHING

Sew seams to underarms.

Single crochet around shrug with 2 strands of Victoria.
