I wonder where Zander went. It’s never bothered me when he’s blocked me out before. It normally pertains to pack business. This time it pertained to the babies and I.

“Where did you go in such a rush earlier?”

He averts his eyes. I know I’m not going to like his answer. The suspense is killing me.

Hear him out before you jump to conclusions. No matter what, you love him and nothing will change that.

Oh great! My conscience decides to show up again. Where was he when Zander and One were attacking me? Doesn’t matter. It’s just a figment of my imagination anyways.

I realize the voice sounds like One. I must have missed him so much that my mind created a wise voice of wisdom that sounds like him. Oh well! Back to the subject at hand.

I wait impatiently as he decides if he’s going to tell me or not. I want to get this over and done with before the babies wake up. I start to open my mouth, but notice he exhales in defeat.

“I went to Samantha’s house.”

“Who’s Samantha?”

I now I’m really not going to like the answer.

“She was the female I had picked to be Luna before I finally caught you.”

I’m speechless. He went to her house to get away from us.

“I don’t want to hear any more, Zander. This conversation is over. I think it’s best if the babies and I start sleeping in the second floor room. Don’t argue with me.”

I don’t wait for him to respond. Picking up 2 babies at a time, I bring them up to the bedroom on the second floor. I added 4 baby beds in here before I left. I started turning this room into a nursery. I had left the bed in case one of the babies ended up sick and I had to sleep with them.

Now, it’s going to be used as our bedroom. Until we can work this out. He shouldn’t feel like he has to run to her for anything.

As I get the babies settled in their beds, I lock the door and go into the bathroom. I leave the door open so I can hear if the babies wake up. I turn on the water and start taking off my clothes after checking on the babies one last time.

The hot water is relaxing, but doesn’t keep the tears from pouring down my face. After everything we’ve been through, he thinks its ok to run to her? He can’t be open and honest with me. It would have been fine if he wouldn’t have hid it from me.

I glance around the shower curtain after hearing a shuffling noise come out the room. Zander is staring at the floor. I wonder how he got into the room without me hearing him.

“Is there something you need?”

I watch his eyes tear up. I know he’s going to apologize, but I don’t want to hear it. I’ve made up my mind, and nothing he says will change my mind.

“I didn’t do what you think…”

I hold up my hand.

“I think I’ve heard enough for one night. I just want to get some rest before training. Is there anything else you need?”

A look of shock and hurt crosses his face. Instead of answering me, he turns around and walks out. I decide my shower is over.

I dry off and get dressed. I make sure the door is locked, but I also pin a chair under the door knob. After checking on the babies one last time, I crawl into bed and worry myself about what Zander was doing at Samantha’s house. It bothers me for a while, but eventually I fall into restless sleep.

I toss and turn for the entire night. Between the babies waking up throughout the night and thinking about the mess with Zander I get very little sleep. The sleep I did get is broken. I’m extremely tired.

Sonny arrives just in time to help me tend to the babies.

“Hand me the boys, and you take the girls. They are easier. You look like you could use easier today.”

“Are you sure, Sonny? I can handle it. I just didn’t sleep very well last night.”

“Yeah! Hurry up with the girls so you’re not late.”

“Thank you! I’ll tell you about my night when I get back.”

“Ok.”

After the babies are fed and ready for the day, I head out. Checking the door as usual, before walking the short distance to the field.

As I enter the field I notice something is off. Zander and One are standing in the middle in a heated discussion. They pay no mind to me as I walk up.

“You need to tell her!”

“I tried, but she won’t listen.”

Apparently I stumbled on something juicy. I quickly realize it is about last night, and I sure as hell don’t want to hear anything about it. It’s bad enough I’m going to have a horrible day due to the lack of sleep from it.

“Listen here. I don’t want to hear another word about last night. If y’all are going to discuss it then do it in y’all head. I want to get this training over with. So, I can get back to my babies. Not in the mood to watch a pissing contest.”

Nothing is said. The topic drops for the moment, and I’m thankful. It is a harsh reminder that my bond ran into another woman’s arms. It isn’t pretty, but it’s the stone cold truth.

Today’s training focuses on my shifting. I figure out pretty quickly the lotus is the hardest. It hurts worse and takes more concentration. No matter the situation, if I get hurt too badly the lotus comes out. Figured that out on accident. And it causes the lotus to come out abruptly.

Every time I shift it hurts less. Guess it’s my body’s way of working out the soreness. Everything I shift into is a deep purple faded to crimson. It’s cool and weird looking at the same time.

I’m noticeable. That’s for sure. It can also be a major drawback. I can’t blend in. Nothing in nature or in the supernatural beings world matches my colors. On the same hand none of my allies will mistake me for the enemy.

Training is hard and uncomfortable. Zander and One almost fight several times. They have differences in opinions about everything. Nothing goes smoothly.

By the time we finish training, I’m tired and aggravated. I just wanted to go home and relax with my babies. We all go our separate ways after training is finished for the day.

I walk in the front door and heard my babies talking to each other. Not actual words. Just baby talk. Sonny’s sitting on the couch while the babies play on the floor. They are scooting around on their bellies.

I stare in amazement. They are learning everything so quickly. My babies won’t be babies much longer.

I start feeling blue. Sonny has witness everything first so far, except for the teeth. I feel like such a bad mother. Missing all the little things that mean so much to me. It’s no one’s fault but mine.

I swallow my pride and stretch out in the middle of the floor. The babies immediately scoot to me. It makes my heart warm up and fill with more love knowing they missed me.

“So, how were they today, Sonny?”

“They tried digging in anything on the floor. There is one thing I want to show you.”

“Oh yea. What’s that?”

“This.”

Sonny opens each ones mouth, and shows me each baby grew a set of incisors that are slightly longer than their teeth and very pointy and sharp. That sure is odd. Guess their vampire side is going to be slightly more dominate.

“I have them too. They only do that when I need to feed.”

“Ok. So I guess they need a blood supplement in their diet.”

Nodding my head in agreement I realize they need to feed. I can’t believe I didn’t remember. I need to feed soon too. Guess I’ll have to talk to Zander soon.

Every day over the next few weeks goes the same way. I get up early to train. Sonny takes care of my babies. I avoid Zander as much as possible, which makes us both miserable.

One and Zander continue to train me. A few of the pack’s warriors join in. It becomes intense. No one goes easy on me, which I truly appreciate. I don’t like being treated differently because I’m a female.

Today is special. A certain someone has decided she’s ready to come out and play with the big girls. Coincidently, One and Zander aren’t coming to training. It’s just going to be me, her, and a couple of warriors.

I start the training by practicing shifting for a couple of hours. Then comes time to fight. I’m looking forward to this. The warriors will test my skills but I have something personal for Samantha.

We take a break for lunch before fighting, which is a nice change of pace. I go home, feed myself and the children, and play with my kids for a bit. About 1:00 I walk back to the field. It is empty. I guess everyone had a long lunch in mind. I began to meditate while I wait.

Suddenly my stomach begins to churn. I can feel eyes on me, I just can’t tell where from. I know what is about to happen. I shift into a wolf. I figure it will make for a fair fight. Both of the warriors that were here earlier and Samantha come after me at once. They know that the element of surprise is lost. I avoid Samantha, I have a special plan for her. The two warriors and I go round for round until I have tagged them both out.

I immediately shift into my lotus. It is the most powerful tool available to me. I take off after Samantha. Like I expect she runs instead of standing her ground. It’s a shame, I want a worthy adversary. I fly into the air and catch up to her with ease. I know it is just me and her now. I dive down and land on her back. Her face digs into the ground leaving a rut from the force behind her. I laugh in my head.

I flip Samantha onto her back put my left paw on her chest and draw back with my right. I’m about to slice her throat and watch her die. I don’t know why but I don’t want revenge I want her to die.

As I’m about to let go of my rage and take her life I feel an intense burning sensation in my back. I ignored the pain and slashed at her throat but miss. I never miss. I look down and see that I’m being lifted up. I turn my head to see what is pulling me further and further away from my target and see a Valkyrie.

It is a black figure, almost human. It has huge wings stemming from its back and talons coming from its feet. The eyes appear to be orbs of white light.

I heard a voice, it is One.

“You have to stop. You can’t kill her.”

Why can’t I? Better yet, why shouldn’t I?

“Because she is my bond and I would hate to have to hurt you.”

The information shocks me. How could Lotus be so cruel to match him up with such a twit? The information is hard to swallow. Guess it will take time to process.

“Shift back. We need to talk.”

I don’t question him. I do as instructed. It only takes a moment. It still hurts, but not anywhere near as bad as the first time.

He grabs my hand, and we walk into the woods. As soon as we are a safe distance away, he drops my hand and turns to face me. There is longing and regret in those eyes.

“You need to hear the argument Zander and I were having when you walked into the field the other day. I had done found Samantha by that time. I sensed her the moment we got close enough to the pack. When Zander ran out the house he wasn’t running from you and the babies. He was running from his emotions. The thought that the babies aren’t going to be babies long had hurt him. He wanted to do all the things he and his dad did, but won’t have the time span to do it. I can understand where he is coming from, but I also understand what you perceived at the moment. He went to her house to talk to her about it. He’s not use to talking to you. Especially when you spend half your time trying to run away from him. He just hasn’t gotten close enough to you to divulge his deepest secrets and fears yet. I promise you, he will get there, but you have to want to be there for, and with him. I told him he needed to tell you, but he said you wouldn’t listen. That doesn’t surprise me though. You need to be able to be everything with him. It’s not 50/50 like everyone thinks. It’s 100/100. You’re either there or you’re not. No in-between. You can’t expect it from him unless you’re willing too. Just think about it.”
