Kate and I hired two more managers who handle Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights at the bar. They also cover two nights out of the week so I can be at home more often.
Because we hired those managers Kate is able to sleep over every weekend. She loves our kids and will often take them to the zoo or a theme park just to have alone time with them.

After we finally get the kids to bed I wander into the living room and sit on the couch next to Ethan. After I plop down I grab my glass of wine off of the side table and stare at our digital picture frame. The frame shows photos from our honeymoon on a European cruise, the birth of Ari and Elysa, birthdays, holidays, date nights, and karaoke at The Grill. I’m just settling down with my glass of wine when he decides to drop a bomb on me.
“We should have another baby.”
“Umm no.”
“Why not?”
“Two kids are manageable but three kids under seven years old could drive us crazy.”
“We have more than enough people to help us out.”
“What about my job?”
“Kate has enough managers to help and you can be a stay at home mom during the week and work weekends. Or we could move to Florida to be close to my folks. You know you’re parents would follow us down there.”
“What about your job?”
“Dad put in a few calls and found a private practice who could use me.”
“What about our friends?”
“Moving will give us a chance to come visit. Hell we can take Kate with us. She can either sell the bar or come back monthly to check up on it. Thanks to both of you it can basically run itself.”
“It sounds like you thought about this a lot.”
“Yup, I like you pregnant.”
“Well I like having control of my body.”
“Come on darlin’, we make beautiful kids.”
Well he’s not wrong about that.
“Not right now okay? I just broke Elysa out of polishing your toes while you sleep.”
“But we only have a few years before they start to hate each other, so it’s better to have them back to back.”
“I said not right now Ethan.”
“Fine.”
I look over at him as he sips his beer and know he’s up to something. “My pills better not go missing again. If they do you won’t get any cupcake until I get them back.”
“We’ll see.”
I sigh in frustration and head to our bedroom to hide my pills. I rip my room apart until I find the empty pack in the trash in the bathroom. Shit I should’ve seen this coming; this is exactly how I got pregnant with Elysa.
We had planned to have one kid but he talked me into having two. I was fine with having another one but I wanted to wait a while before having it. Obviously he disagreed. Now he’s dumped all my pills down the drain and I’m ovulating.
I should’ve known he wouldn’t be satisfied with two kids. I should’ve gotten that IUD when my doctor offered it. Damn it! He’s obviously been planning this for a while.
What man knows his wife’s ovulation cycle when they aren’t trying to make a baby? That damn Ethan! I know I said I’d withhold from him but when I’m ovulating I’m extra thirsty.
I hear Ethan enter the bedroom and I turn in time to see him lean on the bathroom doorpost looking proud of himself.
“You dumped my pills again.”
“You doubted that I would?”
“Ethan I promised you two babies and now you’re trying to trick me into another one!”
“You didn’t have fun making them?”
“That’s not the point! At no time did we discuss having more than two.”
“I want at least five.”
“Five! Hell no Ethan we are not having five kids.”
“Darlin’ we can argue about this all day long but you know how this is going to end.”
“How about we negotiate. I’m willing to have three if that’s all we’ll have.”
“No I want five.”
“Why five?”
“I want another boy and two more princesses.”
“How about four?”
“Five.”
“Ethan, give me a break.”
“I want five.”
“If we have five I’ll have to be a stay at home mom and there is no way seven people can survive on one income.”
“If we move we can afford it. How can you deny our parents more grandchildren?”
“That was a low blow Ethan.”
“You know they both wanted more children but only had us. We have a chance to make them happy and create beautiful children at the same time.”
“I don’t know babe, five children is a bit much.”
“How can you deny the world the best future athlete, lawyer, teacher, or artist? Children are a blessing and its time to reap those benefits. Its time to jump Amelia.”
I don’t know why I bother arguing with him about this. He won the last time and I’m sure he’s going to convince me to have another three. He must see the resolve on my face because he asks, “Are you ready to give in or do I have to make it nasty for you?”
Making it nasty includes shots of vodka and freaky positions. It will be a while before I can drink again so I better make the most of it. I throw my hands on my hips and tilt my head to the side with attitude. He smiles at me before heading to our closet where our stash of liquor is hidden.

I want to first give thanks to God for all that He has given me. Without him I would truly be lost.
Next, I want to send out a HUGE thank you to my Mom and Pop for encouraging me to start writing. I don’t know if this book would have been written without your support.
Finally but far from least, I want to say thank you to Ron G. for listening to my crazy ideas at 3am. You kept me focused and you don’t know how much that means to me.
I’m a laid back go with the flow kind of girl who loves to live in the moment. When I’m not writing you can find me with my nose in a book, hanging out with family and friends, or shopping for new hoodies (I am head over heels in love with hoodies and sneakers, don’t judge me). I live life to the fullest and I never know where this journey is going to take me, I hope that you’ll enjoy this journey with me.
