“
It not that I don’t want to Helen but it too soon, don’t be mad” She frustrated as he fastens his seatbelt but she can see he aroused by her, yes it is too soon but she wasn’t thinking of Alan when he touched her, she never felt that safe with him to relax like this and the only thought was Phil’s hands on her body. She is shaking with the need for him as she pulls her seatbelt around her and clips it in place.
They sit in silence as they continue home. It nice just the music playing, she feels no need to talk as he looks relaxed in the silence. It fel
t like coming home from weeks away with the comfort of being home.
As they walk slowly to her door she can feel his nerves radiating of him as he fiddles with his car keys. She knows
Phil is thinking should he kiss her goodnight and she pretends she cannot find her keys in her bag and playing for time so he can kiss her goodnight. Looking up at him when she gets her keys out and hoping he will kiss her.
“
Goodnight Helen I can’t wait for tomorrow night” and turning to leave. Helen reaches out for his hand and stands on her toes and kisses him lightly on his lips. As soon as her lips touch his, he puts his hand in her hair and pushing her back so she feels the door behind her back, his leg slipping in between hers and travelling his hand up her leg as he kisses her. He groans and he stops his hand on her thigh and looking into her eyes he stops kissing her. He rests his head on her shoulders and she can feel his breath on her neck.
“
Night Helen” he whispers heavily into her neck and kisses her neck
“
Night Phillip” she whispers back, she does not want to go in but he opens her door and he watches her safely inside and he closes the door for her.
She had been job hunting all day but with no luck at all. She decided to enrol in some classes for bookkeeping, computer programming and sign language a strange combination but the only courses that were not full. She hated doing nothing so it will keep her busy when she looked for work. She also was doing a little shopping. She did not have a lot of money as she was out of work, but she wanted to buy something for Phil’s works outing but nothing she liked she could afford to buy. She settled on a new pair of sexy black high heels. They were nearly all straps but showed off how tiny Helen’s feet were and how narrow her ankles are. She was amazed how tall they made her feel.
Phil told her Jeans would do for the outing but she always wore dresses out. Jeans were only worn for work
because she hated anything around her legs. It made her feel trapped. She couldn’t explain the feeling as she never understood it herself. It was like her nails she hated them being cut. Her parents had to sit on her as a child when the other one cut the nails. But they soon given up on forcing her to have them cut as she learnt to bite. It was late August and Helen was buzzing with excitement as she loved this time of year. The warm air on her skin and the thunder in the air made her feel alive. She always wore fewer clothes in August as strangely she liked the wind on her skin. She decides on a dress to wear with her new shoes and she heads home happily. She bought the dress with Lynne ages ago but never had the guts to wear it until now.
Her hair been tied up in a messy French knot a
nd soft trails of hair fall down at the front and she blended her eye shadow in a soft green to gray, it’s barely visible on her eyes but it still highlights her brown eyes and a new maroon lipstick that matches her skin tone. She is wearing a small black dress that shimmers when she moves, Criss-cross straps at the back, and she has no stockings on as the dress is to short, so she was bare legged in her strappy shoes.
She hears the doorbell ring and she rushes to the door in her excitement.
And stumbling a little in her new shoes and she doesn’t bother with her coat.
“
Ready” she says excitedly up at him
“
Are you sure? Where the bottom part of that top?” he laughs and he looks longingly at her legs
“
Too short?” she says sweetly and she twirls for him
“
How am I going to keep you to myself? When you look like that” he laughs again but Helen feels that it was a forced attempt at a laugh
“I’m sure you think of something” she teases him, and she touches his face with her fingers and softly kisses him
.
“
Put your coat on, the taxi outside”
“
Nope sharn’t” and she walks towards the taxi. Phil grabs her coat from the hook that was on the wall and chases after her slamming the door.
“
Sharn’t not a word Helen” he teases her and he slips her coat around her shoulders
“
It means, shall not. Don’t you know nuthing?” and she hears him groan at her bad English.
“
It’s nothing Helen not nuthing” he huffs, annoyed at her bad grammar
“
What’s nothing?” she teases him
“
GARR Helen you can make me so mad sometimes” but he laughs as he opens the door to the taxi. Helen slides across so he can get in and he watches Helen legs as she slides.
He shows her to their table in the large dining room. There were gold tablecloths over the tables with cream napkins in the shape of swans. She feels underdressed as all the women guests are in long flowing gowns and the men are in full tuxedos. She watches Phil take his long coat off and hands it to a waiter. He is wearing a light grey tux.
“I thought you said Jeans?” she says embarrassed at her bare legs
“Sorry, but you would not have come, if I said?”
“
No but what if I wore jeans?” she whispers
“I still would be the luckiest man here Helen
now shush you look beautiful as always” and kissing her hand to silence her worries and holding her hand.
“
Is it an important party?” Helen whispers to Phil again
“No, it’s just a charity function Helen so stop worrying”
She soon relaxes as he shows her off to his friends and beaming at her his dazzling smile to reassure her, and ordering meal after meal of delicious French food as he orders for her. She doesn’t mind him ordering for her as the menu is in French and she doesn’t want to sound stupid in front of his friends.
“I sorry I need the ladies” she whispers to Phil
“I will show you” and standing up and holding out his hand for her. She was capable of going alone but not wanting to offend him takes his hand and he leads her towards the exit where she knew the toilets were. And pulling down at her dress when she walks
“
You look great Helen, so stop fussing” he whispers to her
“
Can I go alone? Everyone’s watching us”
“
They watching because you are so beautiful, when you stop fussing with your dress” he scolds her as she pulls at her dress again
“
Five minutes or I come and find you” he warns and he lets go of her hand
There a cue for the ladies and women having a gossip at the sinks and touching up their make-up. It so hot she thinks as she waits
her turn, with the fans going on and off. She so relieved when she can get to the sink to wash her hands and put some more lipstick on. She relieved when she walks back out of the toilets to the cool air of the reception room.
Phil grabs her arm and march
es her over to a side room.
“
Where have you been Helen?” he sound angry
“
You know where I been, Phil you scaring me” she says quietly
“
Someone said you were with a man. Who is he?” he hurting her arm because he is gripping it so tight.
“
Don’t be silly, Phillip I’m with you” she pleads with him, why did he think she go off with someone else?
“
Sorry Helen I got scared that you left” and leaving her arm go
“I am sorry” he says it so quietly she can only just hear him
and she can see the hurt in his eyes. Why would he think she go off with someone else.
“
It’s o.k. Phil, shh” she soothes him
“Let’s go back, sorry Helen” and he leads her back into the
dining room
She still tense with Phil
and they sit in silence. If he thinks she going to put up with him going nuts on her every time she goes to the bathroom he got more money than sense she thinks to herself crossly.
“I’m am sorry Helen, did I hurt you
?” he says guiltily
“
Yes you did” she hisses at him
“
What can I do to make it up to you?” she can see the tears in his eyes, oh no not here with everyone watching she screams in her head
“
Dance with me” she can’t stand public displays of grief, she still mad at him but she talk to him later alone. Standing she leads him to the empty dance floor. She feels his hands go around her back and she wraps hers around his neck. He slowly moves in close to her body and she desperately tries to hold on to her anger. He starts to move with his body so close to hers. She can smell his aftershave when he lowers his head and kisses her once on the lips. He needs to know he is forgiven she thinks. With Phil arms gently holding her to his body, she feels so safe in his arms and he was the only one who ever made her feel this way. Helen leans her head onto his chest and they slowly move together.
There was no time to talk to him about his jealousy
because they were going home in a minibus with twelve others. She will have to do it some other time when they were alone. She was no longer mad at him but he couldn’t react like that. Helen had worked in a shop and a little flirting was part of the job description. You had to be talkative and friendly no matter how creepy the customers were. And she was not having a man to tell her who she could and couldn’t speak too. Because if she allows Phil to get away with his jealousy that is exactly what would happen.
“
You ready Helen the taxi here” she can see the worry in his eyes, he knows he done wrong she thinks
“
Yes I’m ready and a little sleepy from the wine” she says a little to brightly to be convincing
Phil is insisting that he will walk Helen from the minicab to her door.
“It’s only a short walk Phil, I will be fine on my own honest” the men agreeing with Phil that the driver was a pig because he wouldn’t drive into her street
“
Can you wait here for me then I will walk her to the door and come straight back” he says exasperated at the lack of compassion from the driver
“
No can do mate, I do have a life to go home to, if you get out you walking home.”
“
Come on Helen I’ll walk you home” the cheers from the men making Helen blush
“
Ah Miss let him stay on the couch it raining out, have a heart” a man in his fifties that was sitting on his own teases her.
“Fred
, leave it out” Phil blushes for Helen from the relentless teasing from the men. Phil climbs out of the taxicab and helps Helen out into the rain and he smiling at her shyly.
She allows him to guide her down the lane, the rain falling on her skin
.
“
Let me do up your coat Helen you catch your death” and pulling her coat around her
“
No thanks I like the rain” she hears him laugh and that she was crazy as they walk. They both soaked as they reached her front door. And she shivers as a raindrop runs down her back when she opens her door.
“
Come in Phil, you can phone a taxi from here” she gently pulls him inside before he can say no
“I put the kettle on
, tea or coffee?” she asks brightly
“
Tea pleases Helen” she slips her coat off and lets it drop to the floor and she goes into the kitchen. Slipping her shoes off and putting the kettle on and absently undoing her hair and loosening her hair. Pouring the hot water over two teabags in the pot and putting the tea cosy over the pot to allow it time to brew. Helen bends down to get some mugs for the tea from a cupboard.
“
Milk or sugar?” she asks busy with the task of making the tea
“
Um, Sorry just the milk” she hears him groan when she bends to get the milk out of the fridge and turns to look at him. Puzzled by his groan
“
You really don’t know how beautiful you look, do you?” Phil is staring at her with pure lust in his eyes from the door way and she blushes at his stare and shakily she pours the milk and then the tea into the mugs and bending to put the milk back into the fridge.
“
That dress is very short you know” he teases her and her face blazes, she forgotten how short her dress was.
“
Do you have any idea of what you just did to me?” she looks at him confused as she passes his tea
