I wait until her
father walks into the men’s room before I approach Darcy. I don’t want her
father hearing our conversation.

“Hey Sebastian!
The party seems to be going great,” she greets me. This is the first time I
have seen her all night.

“Have you seen
Mia? She left to use the washroom over thirty minutes ago and I can’t find her
anywhere.”

Darcy’s eyes dart
to the floor as she bites down on her lips. This was Darcy’s tell. Not everyone
had one but Darcy did. She could never tell a lie because her tell gave her away
every time.

“Darcy? Where is
she?” I was starting to get worried. I glanced over the lobby again to see if I
could have missed her but I didn’t.

Darcy lifts her
eyes back up to me. She looks guilty, of what, I don’t know.

“Promise you won’t
be mad? She made me promise not to tell you. She didn’t want to ruin your
night.”

What could she
possibly tell me that could ruin my night? The only thing ruining my night was
not knowing where the hell Mia was.

I grinded my teeth
together as I slowly said, ”I wont get mad.”

Darcy looked a
little relieved by my declaration.

“Okay, well she
came out to see me while I was having a smoke. She said she wasn’t feeling well
and was going to head back home to the estate. She didn’t want you to know
because she knew you would leave with her. She didn’t want to spoil your
night.  I had Gary drive her back to the estate. He’s back already so it
must have gone okay.”

She was still
feeling sick. No wonder she wasn’t acting like herself tonight. She was right
about one thing; I would have gone home with her.

“I’m going to head
back home to take care of her. Will you tell everyone thank you for me. This
night was great.”

“Sure thing. I
hope she feels better,” Darcy said as she gave me a quick hug goodbye.

“Thanks.” I left
no opportunity for anyone to stop me. I ran out to where the limousines were
parked and searched for mine. It wasn’t hard to find. Gary had the back door
open and was bent over, his ass facing my direction.

“Gary,” I yelled
to him.

He got up and
turned around to greet me. “Mr. Price! I wasn’t expecting you so soon. I would
have drove around front to pick you up.”

“I know that Gary
but I need to head home now. I just heard about Mia and I need to go check on
her.”

Gary nodded his
head as he spoke, “Yes, Ms. Dechino was not herself tonight. She got sick in
the back of the limousine. I was finishing cleaning up when you called my
name.”

She was physically
sick? Was she all by herself at the estate? I had to get to her.

“Gary please
brings me home as fast as possible.”

I hopped into the
front of the limo with Gary and we drove to the estate. It wasn’t that long of
a drive so I was happy when we finally pulled up to the front of the house.

I opened the
passenger door and got out of the limo.

“Thanks again
Gary. You can head back now and wait for Darcy to finish up.”

“No problem Sir.”

I headed into the
house and straight to my bedroom. I had to make sure she was okay.  I
wonder if the pill was making her sick? I know any kind of medication can have
serious side effects.

I opened the door
to my room but my bed was empty. Mia’s dress, shoes, and jewelry were laid out
on the bed.

She must be in the
bathroom.

I walked over to
the bathroom but there was no Mia. I checked the closet, but no Mia. I went to
check if she was in the kitchen, but again, no Mia. I was starting to panic.

I ran around
checking every inch of my house but Mia wasn’t anywhere.

Where the fuck
could she be?

I went to check
the employee quarters as a last resort but she wasn’t there. I was screaming
her name everywhere. I was pretty sure I had woken up everyone who lived on the
estate with me… possibly even my neighbors.

When I ran back
into my house Walter stopped me in the kitchen. Walter was head of my security
on the estate. Being wealthy brought a lot of unwanted attention and things
could get out of hand. Walter was there to make sure nothing happened.

We were facing
each other in my dark kitchen. The only light was coming from the light above
the sink. Walter’s face was blank, hard; he never showed any type of emotion. I
liked this trait in my security.

“Mr. Price, I have
something you might want to see,” Walter said as he pulled out his tablet and
pushed some buttons on the screen.

He handed me the
tablet and told me to press play. The video was dark and hard to make out at
first. I was confused on why Walter was wasting my time making me watch this
video. Just when I was about to hand him back the tablet someone walked into
view.

It was Mia.

She was dressed in
a pair of jeans and a t-shirt. She was looking around the dark yard to make
sure no one was watching her. Then I watched her throw a bag over the fence and
a few seconds later she followed.

Once she cleared
the fence and was off the property, she was out of view. I didn’t know which
way she went or where she was going.

The video cut to
black as Walter took the tablet out of my hands.

She was gone.

“I’m so sorry Sir.
I’m not sure how she got past security but I will take care of the problem
immediately. Nothing like this will ever happen again.”

She was gone.

Shit! She was
fucking gone. No goodbye. Nothing.

Walter continued
talking, “I will try to see if any of the surrounding properties have camera’s
facing the street. Maybe someone saw something…”

Mia was gone. She
left me. I knew in my heart she wasn’t coming back. Tears threatened to fall
down my face as I dropped down to my knees. I no longer had the strength to
stand up.

I can’t believe
she left. I thought she loved me. I thought we were starting a life together. I
thought she was happy.

I told her I loved
her.

I fucking love
her!

The tears started
to fall. I could no longer keep them back. All of my memories of her started to
flood my thoughts. Our first meeting… our first kiss… the way she smells… her
messy hair when she first wakes up in the morning… the way she hums quietly to
herself when she thinks no one is listening… the feeling of her skin against
mine when I wake up.

I wouldn’t make it
without Mia. She was my world.

I brought my hands
to my face as I continued to cry my eyes out. I couldn’t control the tears. I
let the floodgates open and they weren’t closing anytime soon.

Mia left me. My
reason to live was gone.

I would let her
have tonight but tomorrow I was going to find her.

I was going to
find her and bring her home.

We were meant to
be together and I was going to make her remember that.

I just needed to
stop crying first.

The journey of
publishing my first book had been crazy. I am so thankful to so many people and
I couldn’t possibly name you all. I love you!

My children, who
give me such encouragement and they are so unaware they do it. I am thankful
for them every day. They are the reason I am able to stay home and write.

I want to thank
God, who has blessed me so much in my life and is there in my ups and downs.

To all the online
blogs and web pages, I received so much insight on how to publish on my own.
Without these sites I wouldn’t know what I am doing.

Big thank you to
everyone who bought the book. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed
writing it. Thank you for your support.
