CHAPTER 28

Irina

             
“Vikky I hurt him real bad. I don’t know how to make it up to him. I was just angry he embarrassed me in front of that stupid wolf bitch and she got the kill. I may not make it into Alpha team and I hurt the one person who could possibly give us our freedom back.”

             
“What do mean freedom back? What did you do so horrible Majesty?”

             
Irina relayed the morning’s events to Vikonika on the way to school including her demonstrating the powers she received.

             
“When is my turn Majesty? I want to be able to do those things too. Finally I could wipe that smug little grin off of Nick’s face once and for all.”

             
“We can do better than that Vikky, look, there is his wanna be girlfriend.”

             
Irina conjured up a duplicate of Nick holding her hand. Fake Nick held her pelvis real close to his and started feeling on her rear end. When Irina was sure Chloe noticed she had fake Nick look in her direction then break away running around the school out of site. Irina just smiled and shrugged her shoulders at Chloe and walked inside the school.

             
“Majesty that was perfect, I can’t wait to see how her and Nick gets on after that.”

             
Irina walks into the school as finds both Aira and Vanessa on the ground twitching with Annova standing above them laughing.

             
“I have always hated those smug broads.” Annova beamed as she fell in step after Irina. “Unfortunately my gift has worn off. It must be a finite number of times it can be used of maybe there is just a set time period where it goes away.”

             
“What do you mean by ‘went away’ Anna?”

             
“”I tried to zap them again Majesty. Nothing happened. That made three people I zapped, now I am done until I go to his bed again. Something I will not feel comfortable doing again while he is in his present condition.”

             
“I get it, I screwed up. But in the end he is only a male. Take him for an outing somewhere. I will get the human Chloe to fix his injuries.”

             
“Why would she want to help us Majesty?” Said Annova, unaware of the events that transpired outside.

              “Because, I will offer to break it off between myself and that pitiful human Nick.”

             
“Ah Majesty, I see it is not only I who have been having fun.”

             
The rest of Irina’s day went by easy enough with Chloe agreeing to her silence in all things concerning Cory in return for leaving Nick alone. Chloe came by after school and was led to Cory's room. Chloe could see him lying down on a bed with Anastasia massaging his feet. As Chloe got closer she could see what sort of shape Cory was in.

             
“What did you do to him!” Chloe said as she rushed towards Cory, placing her hands on his chest.

             
“Do not pretend outrage human”, said Anastasia rising. “Your boyfriend did far worse, or do you think us fools?”

             
“How did you know about that?” Said Chloe as she began sweating whether from guilt or attempting to heal Nick or both.

             
“It does not matter.” Said Anastasia walking away. I am going to leave a friend in here with you to make sure you do your job and stop asking to many questions. Cory I am certain you hear me. Tell this human nothing or you might not have her around to heal you or anyone else again. Anastasia walked out and shut the door just as Josef’s door opened up.

             
“Majesty, do you think it wise to allow Josef to oversee anything?” Asked Annova worried about Cory’s situation.

             
“I do Tasia. Josef’s appearance will scare the girl greatly and that pet of his will not say a word either. I just want Josef to feel somewhat important in the grand scheme of things, maybe he will become more agreeable.”

             
“Speaking of Josef Majesty, I believe I am with child.”

             
“That is excellent news indeed! That brings our total to 5! Josef has outdone himself. Imagine, five little ones running around here! We must go out to celebrate! Tell everyone, tomorrow we go topside.”

Just then the loud speakers came on in their building telling everyone Alpha Team and Bravo team had been chosen and to meet in the park.

              “Watch our mousey little friend in there Tasia. I will be back.”

             
Irina and her vampires went to the park where the other students were already waiting. Fairplay said a bunch of nonsense Irina did not care about as she only wanted names. Irina was happy to hear hers as the first name called for alpha team. Unfortunately the mongrel Khatara’s name was also called as well as her runt Kara. Rounding off the picks were Nick and Aira. That made her the sole vampire on the team.

             
Bravo team would be anchored by the human Vanessa, with Anastasia, Annova, Vikonika and the mind reading human Ivy. Irina smiled inside knowing that they were well represented. She did wonder why the robot Summer was not picked as she was an excellent fighter.

             
“An okay students, in honor of having a new leader for Alpha Team, tomorrow is a day away for everybody. Well almost everyone, our military brethren will hold down the fort while we go partaaay! Don’t thank me people, thank your principal.” Fairplay then quit speaking as the principal summoned Alpha team to meet in his office.

             
Irina walked to his office along with the other members of alpha team. The principal was already there and motioned for them to sit down.

             
“A lot of you may have noticed that Summer is missing from this line up.” The Principal started to speak, “The school in New York was hit and they suffered heavy losses but also took out a lot of wizards and Lycans in the process. Unlike us they were ready for the fight and did not fall for distraction like we did. Unfortunately the head of their Bravo team was killed and Summer is heading that up until a suitable replacement is found. I know you don’t like each other but I think this is the best group around. The little vacation I am having you take is going to be needed, as you are going to go hot and heavy.” The principal then scribbled something down on his notepad. He held it up so all could read it.

We think we have finally found Sonar’s base of operations.

              Nick took the pad and then scribbled down something for the principal to read.

We have been searching for him for the past 5 years, how did we suddenly track him down?

              The professor then wrote on the pad again.

During the attack on our base I set
an homing device on our guest we interrogated. I also placed one on the android who attacked you. I looked for a pattern in their movement patterns. They stayed away from each other for a while but they both have visited the same three spots too many times to be a coincidence. It is either a safe house or base of operations. I must plan with the head of the others schools now. Have fun on your trip.

             
Irina then walked happy to hear the news. She planned on sneaking Cory and Josef out anyway, now she could join them and be like one big happy family. She thought about the fun they could have but remembered Cory was probably upset at her and Josef always was upset at her. Irina walked into her building and was met by Annova.

             
“Majesty, his healing is going far slower than expected. The human is taking a lot longer than anticipated.”

             
“We must give her time Annova.” Irina said as she caressed the other vampire’s face. “The only thing that matters is that he is healed and looking good for our day out tomorrow. I am aware he is getting accustomed to his new place in life and he may not wish to see me. Send someone in to tell him the news and make she the human tending to him has eaten. I know it will pain you so, but get Josef out of there and be as friendly as possible with the human Chloe, engage in….girl talk.”

             
“I have nothing to talk about with such a person Majesty, but I will do as you wish.”

             
“Another thing Annova, those clothes we bought for him when he first came here. Make sure to have them ready. Tomorrow is going to be a day to remember.”

CHAPTER 29

Land of
Enchantment
Entrapment

I woke up early at around 2:30 am. I instantly ran over to the shower to clean myself before they come in and insist I use the tub. I finished in record time, I’d say no more than five minutes and that’s with me hurrying to dry off. I could hear Josef yelling at Brandon so I assumed he was excited about going out too. I have only been allowed topside once, and that was to fight in Nevada. I hurried and brushed my teeth just as Irina walked in. I was going to give her the silent treatment.

              “I see somebody is up early!” Irina said just as cheerful as can be. “I brought you some new clothes I think will like.”

             
I barely took a glance at the clothes or shoes and just sat down on my couch. She sat down next to me and just sighed.

             
“It is tough being in charge Cory.” Irina said as she laid her head in my lap. “I am sorry about yesterday but it was a necessary lesson for you.”

             
I just sat still staring straight ahead. I was trying my best not to let out any emotion, mad, bad, sad or glad.

             
“Ah the silent treatment.” She said as she got up and snuggled up to me, draping my arms over her shoulders. “You can be upset if you want. The beating is the only thing I feel remotely bad about. The other thing is the reason you are here in the first place.”

             
She then grabbed my chin as gave me a soft kiss on the lips. “Enjoy the clothes, I would have your breakfast brought up to you, but I thought we might eat out on the town.” Irina then got up and left.

             
I was proud of myself for not showing any emotion at all, giving her no ammo or anything she could grasp on. I figured she needs to make it right in her mind for all the crap she put me through. The short while I lived here, I figured out most of them were like that. I looked over at the clothes and couldn’t believe it. The basketball shoes alone had to cost at least 200 bucks. The entire ensemble was name brand and it even had expensive looking jewelry attached with it. I looked like a rap star. I jumped around in excitement before it struck me that I was sure she was watching me, her guilt relieved since she knew I liked the clothes. I instantly muted my reaction and put the clothes on and knocked on Josef’s door.

             
Josef was already dressed and holding Brandon’s face.

             
“Listen, I don’t want you to make a peep. If any of these doors open while I am away I want you under my bed. I had it bolted to the floor so it is doubtful a single vampire could lift it. There shouldn’t be any vampires left here but just in case there is a crawl space where it will take a while to reach you. If you for some reason find yourself outside make the first left and run towards the tall building and tell the principal all you can. He may free you or he may kill you. Either way it is safer than being here. Do you understand?”

             
I saw Brandon nod his head. Josef gave him a kiss on lips and directed him to put some ramen packages under the bed along with some water.

             
“I see you are ready also my unfortunate cell mate.” Josef said looking sympathetic. “I saw what happened to you on the monitor, lucky you passed out and did not get to experience the worst of it.”

             
“It wasn’t too bad, I just need to leave here, but I am trapped.”

             
“We all are, so do you have any idea where we are going?” Josef asked.

             
“No idea, although I am guessing we are not allowed to stay around here since I am supposed to be dead. I wish I could see my parents and let them know I am okay.”

             
“Well it is no good wishing for things that will never happen.”

             
Me and Josef stayed talking for about an hour more until Vikonika came and got us. It looked like the entire school was going on the trip minus the military guys. We ended up taking a plane to Albuquerque, and from there to a place called Rio Rancho. It was said that Sammy the Bull was in witness protection somewhere out there.

             
We were dropped off in a place called Cottonwood mall. I could catch Khatara sneaking glances at me and in response I sent signals letting her know I was interested. I also got to see Ronnie and twins, and even ate lunch with them and Summer, although Annova ate with us and was silent the whole time with her hand on my knee under the table, squeezing whenever she wanted me to shut up or change the topic. We went into a movie theater connected to the mall, and that’s where it broke loose. Up ahead of us I spotted the illusionist walking along with Winter and some other people I didn’t recognize. I figured they were just as surprised as we were as they started scrambling for cover also.
